Marcus Craig Rife Sr., 48, of Lincoln, NE entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2011. Marcus was born on December 9, 1962 in Lincoln, NE to Pearl Leaks and William Rife. He was employed by the City of Lincoln, Public Works, Street Maintenance  Division for 20 years. He was an active member of the  Masonic Lodge #3, as well as the City of Lincoln  PAGE Union and was a dedicated and proud  Boy Scout Leader for Pack 51and Scout Master for Troop 1.

Survived by his loving family, wife, Laura; children, Marcus, Jr. (Neicha), Brittany, Ashley; granddaughter Aaliyah; mother, Pearl Leaks, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by father, William  Rife; sister, Alisa Leaks; brother, Adrian Rife; Grandparents Reverend & Mrs. Leaks and Mr. & Mrs. Lester Colliers, Sr.; Aunt, Murvia Walker; Uncle, Lester Colliers, Jr.; Cousins, Carl Mosley and Noelle Sauer; Great Uncle and Aunt Mr. & Mrs. Roy Brown.

 Funeral Service: 11 am Saturday, February 5, 2011 at  Wyuka Funeral Home.   Visitation: Friday February 4, 2011. 12pm-9pm. Family present from 6pm-8pm.

 Pallbearers: Cedric Payne, Thomas Christie, Terry McWilliams, Leroy Stokes, Dan Richards, Patrick Spangler. Honorary Pallbearers: Keith McWilliams, Terry Temple, Darrel Temple, Yohance Christie and Ronnie Smith.

William John “Jack” Calfee age 90 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Waverly Care Center in Waverly.  He was born on October 11, 1920 in Milbank, South Dakota.  Jack was quite an athlete in his day and continued to enjoy his sons’, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s athletic events.  He played baseball and football in high school and semi-pro baseball in Lincoln and Omaha in the late 1930′s. 

Jack married Mildred Nelson on November 15, 1941.  He served in the military from 1942 until 1945 as a Staff Sgt. with the United States 8th Army Air Corps. He was an aerial gunner on a B-17 bomber which made many missions in ETO (European Theater of Operations). He received many combat citations. After the war ended, Jack went into the trucking industry as a truck driver. He was a member of the local Teamster Union 608 and 554 for over 34 years. He was also a member of the VFW and the Northeast United Church of Christ. Jack was an avid auto racing fan and loved fishing.

Jack is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Linda Calfee of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Deb Calfee of Lincoln; 5 grandchildren, Amy and Mike Scheidt of Knoxville, TN; Todd and Jaimi Calfee of Bennet, NE; Carrie Bailey, Lisa and Randy Olson and Troy and Stephanie Calfee, all of Lincoln; 15 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred on March 3, 2006, great-grandson, A.J. Bailey, sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Curly Groves, nephew, Jerry Groves and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Burial with Military Honors will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mark Deane Striman age 88 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his home at Legacy Terrace. He was born on July 1, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anthony and Florence (Fortney) Striman.  He married Marjorie Stark on February 2, 1942. Mark served in the Army Air Force during World War II in European Theatre. He was a prisoner of war for a few months during the war.  Mark worked most of his career as a safety training specialist for Northern Natural Gas, he retired in 1988.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Ohio and a member of the VFW and American Legion.  One of his favorite hobbies was fishing.

Mark is survived by his daughter and friend, Deana Hunt and Lloyd Owens of San Antonio, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Linda Striman of Lincoln; 2 grandchildren and spouses; 1 great-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marjorie on November 25, 2009.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Cemetery.

Burial with Military Honors will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Francis James Wesely age 75 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln. He was born on October 23, 1935 in Topeka, Kansas.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Cemetery.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Richard “Dick” L. Cordell departed this life on January 25, 2011. Dick was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Throughout his life Dick loved playing golf, tennis, and a variety of other sports. Dick played AAA baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved coaching his children’s sporting events. Dick was a member of Masonic Lodge 210 in Lincoln. He had a distinguished career with Hormel Foods retiring as a National Sales Manager for the grocery product division. After retirement, he, along with his wife, resided at Glen Eagle Golf and Country Club.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years JoAnn, their children Cindy Felty, Becky(David) Quinn, Richard (Mellissa) Cordell; grandchildren Kimberly Hair, Megan Felty, Sean and Lauren Quinn, Alexa Cordell, Krista Cordell, Simon Traster, Rawleigh Cordell, Emila Cordell and Triston Cordell; great-grandchildren Eliot and Samuel Hair, Isabell, Rhyleig, Caden and Landon Peterson. Many niece’s nephews and a large extended family.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ester Cordell, brothers William and Robert Cordell.

Visitation with the family present will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home, Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  Funeral Services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10:30 A.M.

 In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Avow Hospice 1095 Whippoorwill Lane Naples, FL 34105 or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Clive “The Candyman” Hilgert, age 94, of Lincoln passed away January 21, 2011.  Born March 20, 1916 in Kenesaw, Nebraska to Sylvester and Jose (Krick) Hilgert.  He was the owner of Sugar Plum Candies and was involved in the candy business for 77 years.  Clive was also a member of the Gateway Sertoma Club.

Survivors include his wife; Katrinka of Lincoln, Sons and Daughter-in-law: Don and JoAnne Hilgert of Lincoln, Bernard Hilgert of McAllen, Texas.  Daughter and Son-in-law: Millie Jo and Jim Levitt of Kansas City, Missouri.  6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mildred Hilgert.

Services will be held in the Rudge Chapel at Wyuka Cemetery, Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.  Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Peoples City Mission, Salvation Army or Lincoln Food Bank in Clive’s name.

Jerry Duane Jensen age 44 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber.  He was born on April 6, 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska to William and Sharon (Schmidt) Jensen.

Jerry is survived by his son, Chaz Waldren; son, Joshua Jensen; daughter, Trisha Jensen; brother, James Jensen; brother, Bill Jensen; sister, Starlette Brooks; and his father, William Jensen, all of Lincoln.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and his mother, Sharon Brown.

Cremation, no visitation.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
