Marvin L. “Marv” Cottingham, age 66, of Lincoln, died January 27, 2012. Born July 13, 1945 in Lincoln to Roy and Jeanette (Newhouse) Cottingham. Marv worked in the Maintenance and Way department for BNSF railroad for 34 years, retiring in 2006. He served his country as a member of the Nebraska National Guard for 20 years. As well as being an very active member for over 20 years and officer of the F.O.E. #147, Sons of the American Legion and the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way Union.
Surviors include his wife: Lee of Lincoln, Step-son: Clete Schrock of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Adam Niederkorn and Cody Niederkorn. 5 Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Burial with military rites will be at Wyuka Cemetery.
No viewing or visitation. Cremation.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. I hadn’t seen Marvin since the 1960’s at which time I last saw his mom and dad. None of us kept in touch. Now as we get older we realize what times we all have missed and can never get back. I know Mom (Ethel Cottingham Smaha) and Uncle Roy were very close.

Marvin was a great guy for the few years I knew him, and I wouldn’t have known him if it weren’t for the F.O.E. Aerie #147. He will be missed and always remembered. Marvin, GOD took you home to “WHERE THE EAGLES FLY”, may you Rest In Peace ALWAYS.

It saddens me to learn of the death of my cousin Marvin. I am the 4th son of Levi & Ethel (Cottingham) Smaha. Marvin & I shared several experiences when we were kids, some I think about now and then.
