Obituaries

Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Reynoldson age 61 of Eagle, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Lincoln. She was born on April 5, 1950 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Fred Ivan and Dorothy Bernice (Voecks) Lehmann.  She married Terry Reynoldson in 1988.  Kathy was the grounds manager at Nebraska Wesleyan University for 11 years.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Terry of Eagle; son, Chris Reynoldson of Lincoln; daughter, Kelsy Reynoldson of Eagle; brothers, Keith and Val Lehmann of Littleton, Colorado; Ken and Karan Lehmann of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska; sister, Karman and Roger Johnson of Norfolk.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Cremation, no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Doris May Girdner

March 28, 2012

Doris May Girdner, age 79 of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Waverly.  Doris was born December 6, 1932 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Marion and Thelma (Jones) Ridpath.  She was married to Gerald Girdner on November 25, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri.  Doris was a member of Plains Baptist Church where she was a long time Sunday School Teacher and loved being in the choir.

Survivors include Daughters and Sons-in-law: Jearlyn and Dale Schumacher of Waverly; Nancy and Darryl Johnson of Elmwood; Juanita and Mark Beam of Holdrege.  Sons and Daughters-in-law: Gerald Michael and Susan Girdner of Lincoln; Jeffery and Kim Girdner of Lincoln.  Brother: John Ridpath, Sister: Mary Ridpath both of St. Joseph, Missouri.  Sister-in-law: Dottie Preston of Lincoln.  14 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald, her parents; Sister: Alice Leach and Brother: Charles Ridpath.

Services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at Plains Baptist Church, 29th  and Randolph St. at 2:00 P.M.  Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Wyuka Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  and Friday, March 30th from 9:00 A.M. until Noon.

Memorials may be left for Plains Baptist Church.

Jacquelen Ann Thomas

March 27, 2012

Jacquelen Ann Thomas age 79 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Crestview Care Center in Milford.  She was born on September 15, 1932 in Lincoln to Jacob and Anna (Dellos) Schleiger.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950.  On October 27, 1956 Jacquelen married Clarence Thomas.  She worked as a secretary for the FAA and retired after 8 years. 

Jacquelen is survived by her husband, Clarence of Lincoln; son and spouse, Claren Jay and Lori Thomas of Katy, Texas; daughters and spouses, Stacia and Daniel Blair of Lincoln; Kelyn and Ken Watson of Lincoln; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kenneth Schleiger and a grandson, Claren J. Thomas, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29th, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Watson officiating.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or to the family for later designation.

Shirley L. Crisler

March 26, 2012

Shirley L. Crisler age 75 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at her home in Lincoln.  She was born on September 12, 1936 in Powhattan, Kansas to Glen and Gladys (Shields) Freeman. She married Robert Crisler on June 24, 1955 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Shirley worked as an accountant for Duteau Chevrolet for 11 years, then she worked as an accountant for the State of Nebraska for 28 years.  She was a member of the Capital City Christian Church. 

Shirley is survived by her husband Robert of Lincoln; daughters and spouses, Debra and Les Doty of  Lincoln; Sandy and John Mikesh of  Lincoln; son, Brad Crisler and Karla Anderson of Raymond;  grandchildren, Elissa Lollman, Mike Perdew, Travis Perdew, Stephanie Flynn and Amanda Mikesh; great-grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Jaxon Lollman, Regan Perdew; brother, Glen and Joan Freeman of Table Rock; sisters, Mary and Ellis Dovel of Pawnee City; Verna Kalina of Pawnee City; Bessie and Richard Gilmore of Kiron, Iowa; Ruthie Day of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Bonnie Freeman of Carter Lake, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Glen Freeman; mother, Gladys Harris; step-father, Lester Harris; brother, Robert Freeman;  sister, Phyllis Freeman; brother-in-laws, Larry Day, Leland Parks and Arnold Kalina.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Thornton officiating.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Joree C. “Joe” Bennett, age 74, of Lincoln, passed from this life to eternity on March 21, 2012.  He was born on June 13, 1937 in Orleans, Nebraska to Carl and Myrtle (Blum) Bennett.  Joe started as a student Pastor serving the Evangelical United Brethren Church until 1968 when the EUB merged with the United Methodist Church.  He served in the UMC until his retirement from the ministry in 1983 after serving 6 different parishes throughout Nebraska and one in Illinois.  After retirement from the ministry he partnered with his son Brian to build homes for Bennett Built Homes, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris (Cook) Bennett of Lincoln; Daughter and Son-in-law: Christy and Bruce Wacker of Overland Park, Kansas; Son and Daughter-in-law: Brian and Judy Bennett of Lincoln; Granddaughter: Sarah Wacker; Sister: Carla Hatch of Minden, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Reta Artz and Dora Lee Larsen; one niece.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be left for the People’s City Mission.

Patricia A. Spradley

March 14, 2012

Patricia A. Spradley, age 48 of Lincoln, joined her Mother and Father in heaven on March 13, 2012.  She was born October 27, 1963 in Manhatten, Kansas to Marvin E. and Patricia Ann (Bradley) Spradley.

Survivors: Sister and Brother-in-law: Catherine and John Blazek of Lincoln; Sister: April Rollins of Lincoln; Significant Other: Terri Krause of Lincoln.  Nieces, Nephews and Great niece.  Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 1:00 P.M.  Interment of ashes will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be left for the family for a later designation.

Josie O. Filbert

March 9, 2012

Josie O. Filbert age 88 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Friday, March 9, 2012 in Lincoln.  She was born on April 18, 1923 in Platte County Nebraska to Jake and Lena (Lammers) Mohr.  She married Martin John Filbert who preceded her in death.  Josie retired from Ovaltine Food Products.  She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.  A special thank you to all of Josie’s friends at Eagle Hollow.

Josie is survived by her son and spouse, Gene and Karen Filbert of Milford; daughter and spouse, Bonnie and Brian Beix of Edgewood, New Mexico;  daughter, Nancy Ward of Loveland, CO; 3 grandchildren, Shawn Filbert and Kristen Derr of Milford; Katelyn Burns of Boulder, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 7 brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka Cemetery with Pastor Verdell Schramm officiating.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Clyde M. Stickney age 82 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Lincoln. Clyde was  born on March 15, 1929 in Ashland, Nebraska to Clyde and Mabel (Rush) Stickney. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1947.  He married M. Blythe Boydston on June 10, 1949.  Clyde served in the Navy Reserves during the Korean War era. He was a brick layer, stone mason, and specialized in fireplaces. He worked for Hub Hall Construction. Clyde also worked as a locksmith for the Penitentiary. He loved to go dancing at the Pla-Mor Ballroom. Clyde volunteered at Nebraska football games and ushered at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. He was a big fan of the UNL Women’s Basketball team and Husker football.  He also helped start the YMCA Indian guides. Clyde was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. 

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Ken Tobkin, of Lincoln; son-in-law, Russel DiMartino of Iowa; sons and daughter-in-law, David Stickney, Scott and Carol Stickney of Lincoln; brother, Glen Stickney of Lincoln; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cloyd and Arla Bodyston of Wahoo; brother-in-law, Kendall Dimmitt of Lincoln. Clyde is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Mable, daughter, Pam DiMartino and 2 grandsons.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ United Methodist Church, 45th and A Street, Lincoln.

Interment will be held at a later date at Wyuka Cemetery.

Jeffrey A. Hamilton

March 6, 2012

Jeffrey A. Hamilton age 51 of Ava, Missouri died on March 3, 2012 in Springfield.  He was born on March 29, 1960 to Jerry and Charlene (Baker) Hamilton.  He was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School.  He resided in Ava, Missouri for the past 14 years.  Jeff was an over the road truck driver and he loved his job.  He was an avid fisherman and a self taught computer geek. He enjoyed helping others worldwide with their computer and earned many blue ribbons for his efforts on the forum.  Jeff had a lifetime love of music, was a friend to everyone and especially loved Nascar.

Jeffrey is survived by his daughters, Kristy Hamilton Hille and Aleah Hamilton; granchildren, Peyton, Kennady and Ainsley; parents, Jerry and Charlene Hamilton of Lincoln; sister and spouse, Julie and Steven Lillich of Lincoln; brother and spouse, Greg and Alyce Hamilton of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Heather, Danielle, Emily, Jenna, Jacob and Jack; great niece, Kyla; many friends including, Danny Kaiser, Daniel Wiltfong; Mike Collier and Sonny Beeotch. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Fairview Cemetery.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Steven R. Werger

March 4, 2012

Steven R. Werger, 56, of Bennet, died peacefully March 4, 2012 in Lincoln with his wife and children by his side.

Steve was a Journeyman Plumber at Shanahan Mechanical and Electrical, and a graduate of Waverly High School. He was married to Terri, his high school sweetheart, for nearly 35 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and very proud of his three children.

 Survivors include wife, Terri (Mangel) Werger; Daughters and Son-in-law: Dawnelle Werger of Lincoln, Tara and Chris Rutt of Mitchell. Son and Daughter-in-law: Jacob and Allison Werger of Bennet. Mother: Kathryn Werger of Lincoln. Brother and Sister-in-law: Jack and Chris Werger of Eagle. Sister: Joan Nelson of Lincoln. Sisters-in-Law: Deb Werger of Johnson Lake, Rondy Jordan of Dallas, TX, Tami Pickett of Katy, TX. Brother-in-law and wife: Rick and Susan Mangel of Alma. Brother-in-law and Wife Rod and Melissa Mangel of Omaha. Mother-in-law Ev Mangel of Waverly. Father-in-law Ron Mangel of Alma. Many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his father: Gerald “Pete” Werger, brother: Mike Werger and grandparents.

 Memorial services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M.  A celebration of life will follow the service at a family location near Eagle, NE. Steve requested that camouflage be worn.
