Elizabeth “Betty” Hogue

Elizabeth “Betty” Jones Hogue, age 84, of Lincoln passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 after a brief illness.  Betty was born June 12, 1928 in Rhymney,Wales, UK to David Jones (Shirgaer) and Martha Rees. Hogue who was stationed in Cardiff, South Wales.  Richard’s career with the US Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service took them to many cities and states in the US.  Betty was supportive and together they dedicated their lives to making a loving home for their six children in Iowa, New York, Virginia, and Nebraska.  Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  The family made many trips back to visit Wales, as Richard had promised Betty’s father.  The Welsh relatives are also mourning her loss. Through the years she kept the family history alive with her sharp memory and photo collection.  Betty was generous almost to a fault.  She was a wonderful friend and neighbor.

Siblings Rachel, Frank, Sarah (Sal), Blodwen, Dan, Dave and Nancy all preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty six years, Richard.  Betty is survived by her six children: Ronald (Sherry) Hogue, Beaumont, TX; Diana Hogue (Thomas Schur), Syracuse, NY; Pamela (Michael) Hurley, Raleigh, NC; Sandra (Fred )Duncan, Ada, OK; Karen (Kurtis) Suhr, Lincoln, NE; Sharon (Merv )Thompson, Birmingham, AL; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
