Doris Aldridge

Doris Aldridge, age 88, of Lincoln, passed away on April 8, 2013.  She was born January 29, 1925 in Syracuse, NE.

Doris attended school in Syracuse and college in Lincoln.  She worked at Arrow Aircraft Factory in Lincoln during WWII.  She married her husband, Clifford (Fort Smith, AR) in 1946.  They moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1947, where Doris was a homemaker, raising their eight children.  They returned to Lincoln in 1961.  After she was widowed, Doris worked for the Weatherization Program at Lincoln Action for 25 years.  Doris enjoyed sitting in her flower garden, reading and watching the wildlife.  She loved animals, and doted on her two cats.  Doris was feisty, outspoken, and mischievous.  She had a sassy sense of humor and loved to laugh;  you couldn’t help but laugh with her.

Doris is survived by eight children, Connie Schlegelmilch (Larry), Courtney Aldridge, Cameron Aldridge, Karen Carder (Ralph Cox), Kevin Aldridge (Sally), Kathi Cockrill (Scott), Kerry Aldridge, and Cliff Aldridge (Lisa); 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.  Doris is preceded in death by her husband Clifford, daughter-in-law Bonnie, granddaughter Celeste, and grandson Kevin Jr.
