Willard “Jack” Eigsti

EigstiWillard “Jack” Eigsti, age 82 of Lincoln, passed away June 4, 2014.  He was born September 18, 1931 in Matteson, Illinois to Wilmer E. and Ruth (Bontrager) Eigsti.  Jack was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U.S. Army as a radio operator.  He married Leona Senseney on June 18, 1955.  Jack was a member of Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazarene, serving as the district secretary for 29 years.  He was a Hastings College graduate earning a B.A. in math and physics.  Jack worked for American Stores and Cook Foods as an engineer for 37 years.  He also, owns a co-patent on a battery part.  Jack was a long time employee of Wyuka Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Leona of Lincoln, Daughters and sons-in-law: Janet and Robert Baty of Omaha, Jackie and Jeff Shanahan of Billings, Montana.  Son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Linda Eigsti of Ottumwa, Iowa.  Grandchildren and spouse: Matthew Baty, Jocelyn and Jesse Reilly, Ariel Baty, Jonathan Eigsti, Rebecca Eigsti, Sara Eigsti, Jeremy Shanahan and Jared Shanahan.  Brothers and sisters-in-law: David and Ruth Eigsti of West Bend, Wisconsin, Wilmer and Ranelle Eigsti of Kankakee, Illinois.  Niece and Nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Phil and Bob Eigsti.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazerene, 1901 S. 70th street, Lincoln.  Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home from Noon until 6:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 4:00-5:00 P.M.  Interment with military honors will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

  1. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Jack was the kindest, sweetest man and always offered a smile and a “how are you” at every opportunity. I sang with him in the Nazarene choir a few years back. He is missed.

  5. Dear ones, we are sorry we will miss the service tomorrow, we will be traveling. We just wanted to say how much we loved Jack and how much we will miss him, along with everyone else that knew him. His life was such a testimony. We will always remember him. We will have the family in our prayers. Jack – we will miss your smile!

  6. I would think of Jack often after he retired from Cook’s. Yes, he was the nicest man you wanted to know. Lee, I am sorry I just heard of Jack’s passing because I would have liked to have stopped by on Sunday. May God’s grace lift you during the coming days.
