  1. I was so saddened to see that Shirley had passed away. All members of my family were good friends of Shirley and R.D. My mother had known Shirley since they were young girls working at Cushman’s in Lincoln. They walked to work together. Since Shirley and R.D. were interested in playing the organ at one time-as was I-we got together socially and attended organ concerts together. I performed on my piano and organ in my home when they came over to visit. In Shirley’s later years after R.D. had died and my parents had died, I would get together with Shirley and visit with her about old times. Please contact me. Was Shirley ill for very long? She was such a nice lady. In Deep Sympathy for your loss, Doug Kroger 239-776-2667, pianorganman@gmail.com

    • Hello Doug, not sure if anyone replied to your question. Shirley was my aunt. My Mom was her youngest sister. We were all heartbroken about her sudden death. She had a couple mini strokes in the two or three years prior. I think she was just ready to go. She didn’t want anyone to know that she was in the hospital. The reason I found this, is I was looking for the name of the cemetery she was buried. My cousin, Mary who lives in California took care of all the arrangements per her request. I sure do miss her terrible.

  2. Condolences to the Hartley family. May Jehovah the “God of Comfort” bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time (2 Corinthians 1:3 & 4). Your family are in our prayers.
