RITA COLLIERS MITCHELL

SKM_C284e15011616490_0001-001RITA COLLIERS MITCHELL, was born September 22, 1953 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to the late Lester Colliers Sr. and Claudia Brown Colliers.  She was the sixth of six children.  Rita departed her life on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Sulphur, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She also graduated from the College of Hair Design.

Rita was married to Frank Mitchell, and they had one daughter, Claudia Mitchell Richards of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Rita accepted Christ at an early age. She attended the Saint John Baptist Church.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Sr. and Claudia Colliers; one brother, Lester Colliers Jr.; and sisters Murvia Walker and Pearl M. Leaks. Rita leaves to mourn daughter Claudia Richards (Dan); granddaughters, Imani L. Richards and Zhalynn K. Richards; she also leaves to mourn three brothers, Donald Colliers of Omaha, Nebraska, Richard Colliers of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and foster brother Thomas Christie (Brenda ) of Lincoln, Nebraska; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends. May her memory be forever blessed.

A Funeral Service for Rita will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home Chapel, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE.  There will be a visitation one hour prior at the Funeral Home.  Pastor Jesse Myles from No Greater Love Christian Fellowship in Lincoln will be officiating.  A Graveside Committal will take place directly following the Service at Wyuka Cemetery.  The family will invite you to join them at a local restaurant after the Graveside Service.

  1. Claudia, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother will now be in heaven looking down on you every day. Watching over you, Dan and the girls. She will always be there with you. I love you.

    I was so sorry to hear of Rita’s passing. May God hold you in the palm of hands during this difficult time with tender loving care. Rita and I were best friends in elementary, junior and senior high schools. I can remember romping all over town during our teens and visiting each other’s homes. Rest in peach my dear friend.

  4. When we offer words of encouragement it is the calm the spirit and bring peace. And to know that the pain of death will bedone away with as the scriptures says Jehovah will remove death forever.
