CockrillKaren S. Cockrill age 73 of Lincoln, passed away May 25, 2015.  She was born January 13, 1942 in Auburn, Nebraska to George and Leola (Hicks) Cummings.  Retired from Goodyear as a supervisor.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Monty and Renee Mertes, Mitchell and Beth Mertes, Jeremy and Kristie Cockrill.  Daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Dave Barth.  Grandchildren and spouse, Melissa and Herbert Kinchen, Lauren Mertes, Alex Mertes, Paige Jewett, Jenna Elson, Rebeka Elson, Jachin Mertes and Grace Mertes.  Great grandchildren, Meliyah Lashley and Cameryn Collier.  Brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Paula Cummings, Earl and Betty Cummings, George William III and Nadine Cummings.  Preceded in death by her husband, Jerold W. Cockrill.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 28th at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Daniel W. Nalley

IM000265.JPGDaniel W. Nalley age 68, of Lincoln, passed away May 25, 2015.  He was born July 18, 1946 in Urbana, Illinois to William F. and Gladys M. (Frye) Nalley.  Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1967-1968.  He was retired from a career as a butcher.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Nalley Oloo and Enock Oloo of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sahara Nalley of Aurora, Colorado;  Grandchildren, Valeska, Makayla and Sahara Nalley.  Nieces and Nephews.  Close family friends, Heather Kramer, Chere and R.A. Jones.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Humes and brother James “Cooper” Nalley.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  No viewing or visitation.

Burial with military honors will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

John Elden Hall

FlagJohn Hall, age 63 years and two months, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln.  John served his country during the Vietnam War and most recently worked for a Lumbar Yard driving, delivering, and in dispatch.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Hall; his twin sister, Cheryl Bledsoe; son, Jason Hall; and siblings and friends.  Burial at Wyuka Cemetery with private family services.

Sharon L. Meyers Durden age 73, of Lincoln, passed away May 18, 2015.  She was born October 6, 1941 in Fort Sam Houston, Texas to Clarence Everett and Della Leota (Rush) Meyers.

Survivors include her children, Amanda, Chad and Jodie.  Sisters, Sue and Sharleen.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Cemetery on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.  Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20th.

images[1]Rosemary Annette Chatel, age 66, of Hebron, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, surrounded by her family.  Rosemary was a nurse in Hebron, she is survived by her son, Joseph Chatel and family, of Schererville, Indiana.  Private family burial. www.wyuka.com


Jerry Hugh Hamilton

Hamilton, Jerry folder photoJerry Hugh Hamilton, age 79 of Lincoln, was sent to God’s side on May 10, 2015 at his home.  Jerry was born Feb. 7, 1936 in Lanett, AL to Tommy Lee and Elizabeth (Lashley) Hamilton.

Jerry lived a remarkable life. He retired from the United States Air Force after proudly serving 20 years, including serving in Vietnam with the 555th Red Horse, Cam Rahn Bay. Jerry loved his job as Deputy Sheriff for Troup County Georgia where he trained and ran the canine unit, D-9 K-9, under Sheriff Jones. He was also a Federal Police Officer at the Lincoln Veteran’s Hospital for 8 years where he cared for and protected everyone who came across his path including many nurses and staff that he developed life-long friendships with.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. Special thanks to his Oncology Nurse, Sarah Keller at LVA and Saint Elizabeth’s Progressive Care Unit & Hospice Team for their loving care.

Long-term Lincoln resident, survived by his beloved wife Charlene of 58 years; son Greg (Alyce) Hamilton and family of Denver; daughter, Julie (Steve) Lillich and family of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Hamilton; five brothers; and three sisters.

Military Graveside Service at 3:30 p.m. on  Friday, May 15th at Fairview Cemetery, 84th & Adams St., Lincoln; meet and process from Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St. at 3:00 p.m.  Supper Reception at Wyuka Stables, 3600 “O” St., following the service. There will be a Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thurs. May 14th at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project.


Alice A. Patterson

PattersonAlice A. Patterson, age 81 of Lincoln, passed away May 8, 2015.  She was born September 16, 1933 in Table Rock, Nebraska to Cecil and Ollie (Lang) Horton.  Alice retired as an Administrative Assistant with the State of Nebraska and was awarded the honorary title of Admiral of the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Joan Siske of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Dondlinger of Lincoln; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Vernon Hartman of Lincoln.  Grandchildren, Daniel Dondlinger, Michelle Dondlinger both of Lincoln.  David Dondlinger of Springfield, Missouri and Matt Dondlinger of Lincoln.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Ross Siske and second husband Richard Patterson.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday, May 14th at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Richard D. Luhr

Luhr_edited-1Richard D. Luhr age 64 of Omaha, formerly of Lincoln, passed away May 7, 2015 in Omaha.  He was born August 29, 1950 in Lincoln to Dale Luhr and Delpha (Packett) Fusco.  Richard was an electrician at LES for 38 years before his retirement.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his son and fiancé, Brian Luhr and Ashley Helms of Lincoln; mother, Delpha Fusco of Bentonville, Arkansas; Grandchildren, Audrey Luhr and Breck Luhr; Brother and sister-in-law, David and Jody Luhr of Lincoln; Nieces, Maygan Luhr and Stephanie.  Nephews and spouse, Logan Luhr, Nathan and Melissa Luhr.  Aunts, Uncle and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, step father, Peter Fusco and brother, Steven Luhr.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Burial at Wyuka Cemetery.  No viewing or visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Winifred Ann (Locher) Turner, age 88 of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Tabitha Maseman Unit in Lincoln.  Winifred was born June 7, 1926 in Oneida, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Nettie (Hess) Locher.  She graduated from Bern KS High School, class of 1944.

Winifred married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Turner, on December 4, 1946; they celebrated their 55th anniversary prior to his passing.  She was employed with Nash Finch Company for 20 years and enjoyed 18 years of service as Hostess at the Bethany Pantry.

She is survived by daughters, Glenda Walters of Topeka, KS, Gloria Turner-Fox (Frank) of  Tempe, AZ ; son, Fred (Brenda) of Lincoln;  six grandchildren;  seven great grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Christine) Locher of Paulding, OH; and sisters, Clarine (Richard) McConnell of Tucson, AZ, and Lois Slack of Escondido, CA.

Preceded by her parents;  husband;  sisters, Ruth Down and Lennis Locher ;  son in law Robert Walters; brother & sister in law, Gene (Betty) Turner; and brother in law Robert Turner.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Marks United Methodist Church , 8550 Pioneers Blvd;  Pastor John Lacey officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 10, 2-4 p.m. at 1111 North 78th Street, home of Fred and Brenda Turner.  Memorials to St. Marks Church.  

Robert A. McKinney

McKinneyRobert A. McKinney age 78, of Lincoln, died May 2, 2015.  He was born November 20, 1936 in Lincoln to Charles L. and June Esther (Titus) McKinney.  Bob married Marcella Dec 5, 1981.  They lived in Malcolm for 26 yrs.  Bob worked for Burlington Railroad for 35 yrs, and retired in 1999.

Survived by:  Wife Marcella McKinney, Step-children Judy McEniry (Bob) Houston, Tx, Bennie Kermmoade (Pat), Danny Kermmoade (Robin), Michelle Smith (Rocky) all of Lincoln, NE, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 sister Emmajane Crossley,  numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces & great nephews.  Preceded in death by:  His parents Charles & June McKinney, Sisters Rosemary Gallagher, Patty Loos, Esther Farleigh; Brothers Charles McKinney, Jim McKinney, (Earl) Butch McKinney.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Wyuka.

Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.
