Edward John Meents

Meents obit photoEDWARD JOHN MEENTS, age 89 of Lincoln, was born in Beatrice in 1926 to John and Dorothy Meents. He served in the Navy during two wars. Ed worked for local Gas Companies for 34 years.   Recently he returned to Lincoln from New Mexico and lived at the Legacy Terrace. Ed was a sweet, gentle, funny man who loved deeply. Connie (Pitzer) and Ed were married 68 years.

He is preceded in death by his son Dan.

Survivors include children, Michael (Brenda) and Julie (Chip); daughter in law, Madeline;  grandchildren, Matt, Claudia, Lindsey, Austin, Blake, Phillip, Tara; five brilliant greatgrands; a remaining sister Helen Kunc; niece Sharon Hester and Bob are a blessing.

A casual ‘Gathering of Family & Friends’ will be Tues., Aug. 18th , 10:00 a.m., at Wyuka Funeral Home Chapel, 3600 “O” St, Lincoln, officiated by Pastor Wes Ballard.

  2. Mrs. Meents, so sorry to read of Ed’s passing. I had heard that you had returned to Lincoln and thought maybe I would see you guys at the engine house in Havelock. I worked with Ed at the gas co from 1963
    til he retired. He was one of the good guys in management because He never forgot his years of union leadership after he went into management.

    I just found out about EJ’s passing. I don’t know if you will get this message, but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. He was a special man and was so wonderful to me and the kids. Lots of love.
