Sharon L. Harms

Harms, widow of Wayne age 76 of Lincoln, passed away November 22, 2016.  She was born February 25, 1940 in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Frank and Caroline (Bausch) Jones.  Sharon worked at United Fire and Casualty for over 20 years.  She enjoyed reading, but loved the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Her passion and the twinkle in her eye was her grandson.  Sharon was a loving, encouraging, supportive mother and grandmother, committed to her family and taught her daughter how to be a mom and a great cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Harms of Lincoln.  Grandson, Noah Sanchez.  Sister, Shirley Wissler.  Nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Monita Culver

skm_c284e16112116520_0001-002Monita Ella (Heitman) Culver, age 89, of Lincoln passed away on November 19, 2016. Born in Madison, S.D. to Wilbert and Eunice (Janssen) Heitman on July 20, 1927.  While working for the Madison telephone company she met Robert Culver in 1946 and they married in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1947.  Together they raised four children.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Bob (Debra) Culver Jr. and Jim (Fran) Culver; daughters, Linda (Rick) Chrastil, and Brenda Culver; brother Allen Heitman; sisters Judy (Lee) Boss and Arlene (Dick) Harvey; grandsons Chris (Akiko) Culver, Alex (Rosie) Hall, Walker Hall, Bryan (Kristina) Chrastil, and Tyler Chrastil; granddaughters Ashley (Bryan) Brinkman, Clarissa (Travis) Smith, Alison (Eric) Preston, Elizabeth Hall, and Deb Hansel; great grandchildren Kai, Juli, Lily, Ethan S., Tatum, Ethan P., Ella, Patience, and Gracie.

Monita is preceded in death by her parents, brother William “Bill” Heitman; sister Delilah “Dee” Olson; and daughter in law Mary Culver.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednes. Nov. 23, 2016 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd., Lincoln. Visitation and viewing from 6-8 pm with family present on Tues. Nov. 22, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St., Lincoln.  Burial in Wyuka Cemetery. mcmanaman-obit-photoEvangeline “Vangie” Chapman McManaman, age 95 of Lincoln, and born in Shelby, Nebr. – passed away Nov. 17, 2016 surrounded by family. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; born May 5, 1921 to Forest and Minnie May (Gilbank) Chapman.  Vangie married George “Bud” McManaman in 1944 in Spalding, Nebr. and raised five daughters: GK Wattier, Mary Pat Boesch, Cecilia Ann “Mick” Wempe, Veronica McManamon, and Sharon Runyan.  She is also survived by son Eugene McManaman.

Vangie is preceded in death by her husband and sons, John “Jack” and Rollin McManaman.

Catholic Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am on Nov. 22, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St., Lincoln. Visitation with viewing from 5 – 8 pm on Mon., Nov. 21st also at the funeral home.  Memorials to the family. Condolences at www.wyuka.com

goodwin-rickRick O. Goodwin, 59 years young of Lincoln died November 15, 2016.  He was born February 8, 1957 in Lincoln to Orville and Elinor (Wolter) Goodwin.

Rick is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Paula Goodwin of Denton, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Ron Lawson of Lincoln.  Nieces, nephews, one aunt, cousins and countless friends.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Interment of ashes will be at Fairview Cemetery following the service.

metcalf-juneJune Louise Metcalf, age 68 of Lincoln, passed away at home surrounded by family on the evening of November 16, 2016.  She was born May 13, 1948 in Washington D.C. to Robert and Marian (Cooper) Hamilton.  June moved to Lincoln when she was a young child, her mother was a very loving, hard working, caring woman and mother.  Rod and June met in the summer of 1962.  Her husband loved her from first sight.  June was the best mother, grandmother, and wife.  Her family could always depend on her for everything!  And anything!  She loved to care for her family and put them before herself.  She loved children and always involved with every aspect of their lives.

Survivors include her husband, Rod.  Children, Rhonda, Richard and Jason.  Grandchildren, Jessica, Mathew, Kaleb and Jayde.  Great grandchildren, Natalya, Giselle, Persayis Sara, Zac and Matt.

She loved her close friends, was a great cook and always had good conversation.  She was a blessing to everyone around her.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St., Lincoln.

frazier-frederickFrederick Bernard Frazier, age 50 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln with his brothers, Tommie J. Frazier, Jr. and Carlton L. Frazier, by his side after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.  His services are being held in Palmetto, Florida where his parents Tommie Sr. and Priscilla Frazier reside.

Reed J. Reiselman

November 11, 2016

Reed J. Reiselman age 57 of Lincoln, passed away November 10, 2016.  He was born January 15, 1959 in Scottsbluff to Robert L. and Mary L. (Rice) Reiselman.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Aileen and Gary Leithead; brother and sister-in-law, Robin and Cheri Reiselman; sister and brother-in-law, Trish and Jeff Bergman.  Sister-in-law, Lorna Pleasant.  Nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, LeAnna (Walbridge) Reiselman and his parents.

Reed’s wishes were to be interred with LeAnna and for no formal service.

Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

dennis-haroldHarold Lloyd Dennis, a life long resident of Lincoln passed away at the age of 91 on November 10, 2016 at Bryan Hospital East.  He was the son of Charles H.R. Dennis and Sarah E. (Harvey) Dennis, also of Lincoln.  He was born April 9, 1925 in Lincoln, after high school at the age of 18, he enlisted June 18, 1943 in the Army.  He served three years in the Army during World War II, in the 123rd Infantry, Co. L, 33rd Division Illinois.  “The Prairie Division”, Men of the Golden Cross.  Battles he fought in were at Luzon, New Guinea and the Philippines.  He won many medals, a few being the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Service with 2 bronze stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal – Inscribed.  He was discharged from the Army on January 17, 1946.  He returned home, met and married Annie Mae Bates on November 22, 1947 at his sisters home.  Harold and Ann raised five children; Paul B. Bundy, Carolyn (Dennis) Kress, Jean (Dennis) Masek, Lloyd and Rocky Dennis.

Harold enjoyed and loved his family very much, they were always first.  His interest were watching NASCAR and football, especially the Nebraska Huskers on his 60″ television.  He had a big laugh, crazy stories told with colorful language that on occasion, were actually true.  Before retirement he was employed at Wells Fargo Armored Services and later Nebraska Correction Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Annie Mae (Bates) Dennis, who passed away in 2013, and two sons, Paul B. Bundy who passed away October 2013 and Lloyd Dennis who passed away May 2016.  He is also preceded in death by five brothers, Hartson, Cliff, Marvin, Bill and Edward Dennis; and four sisters, Etta Mae and Bettie Jean Dennis, Dorothy (Denis) Housel and Marie (Dennis) Truksa.

He is survived by his three children, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Steven Wayne Wroughton

woughton-stevenSteven Wayne Wroughton, the son of Richard and Lorraine (Kelley) Wroughton was born on May 19, 1957 in Superior NE. He was called home by his Lord and savior on November 9, 2016 at the age of 59 years. Steve graduated from Nelson High School in 1975. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 and was stationed in Germany.

Steve returned to Nebraska and discovered that he had a special knack for computers and worked in information technology. Steve’s faith was a central part of his life. As a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, Steve was an active member of Calvary Community Church and involved in the music ministry, playing guitar at Calvary and the Lincoln Berean Church. He married Becky McNitt on March 17, 1989. Steve loved camping, concerts, spending time with friends and family events.

Steve is survived by his wife Becky, sons Brandon of Hebron KY, and Austin of Lincoln NE, parents Richard and Lorraine Wroughton of Superior NE, grandchildren Owen and Quinn Wroughton of Hebron KY, brother David Wroughton of Superior NE and brother-in-law Martin Rowland and his wife Sandy of Milford NE, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Rowland, and his grandparents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday November 15, 2016 at Calvary Community Church, 4400 First Street, Lincoln, NE.  Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lincoln food bank.

Nola Jean Newsham

newsham-nolaNola Jean Newsham, age 91 of Lincoln, passed away at Eastmont Towers on Nov. 3, 2016.  Her family was most important to her; she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and loyal friend.  Nola Jean was born August 6, 1925 to Joseph and Anna Chore in Gregory, South Dakota.  She had three older sisters – Viola, Geneva and Eleanor.  She attended Northeast High and Neb. Wesleyan University where she was a member of the Willard Sorority.  Nola Jean was a charter member of the Neb. Assoc. of Bank Women.  In 1975 with one other employee, she started First Savings Company of Lincoln for First National Corporation.  She retired as an AVP from First Tier Bank in 1987.  She also belonged to PEO, Chapter Al.  She was on the Neb. Board of Trustees and the Pension Board of the Neb. Conference of the United Methodist Church, where she has been active since 1935.

Nola Jean married Lloyd Newsham on March 24, 1945, and they had three daughters. She is survived by her three daughters Judy Torrens of Omaha, Karen White and husband Tom of Lincoln, and Joyce White of Lincoln; grandchildren Jacob Torrens of San Francisco,CA, Sara (Bill) Prince of Arlington Heights, IL, Zachary (Andrea) White of Lincoln, Seth (Nicole) White of Omaha, Anna White of Marina del Rey, CA, Whitney (Chad) Tonkinson of Brunswick, OH, and Joshua White of Flagstaff, AZ; great grandchildren include Addison Prince, and Koa, Luna, Thomas, and Eloise White.  Also surviving is her sister Eleanor Peters and  husband Ruben.

Nola Jean is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Viola Petty and Geneva Stearns; and grand-daughter Aimee Torrens.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 12, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 50th and St. Paul, Lincoln,  with interment of cremains to follow at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln.  Cremation with no visitation.  In lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Eastmont Towers.  Condolences at www.wyuka.com

Stella Arnold Robert

robert-stella-obit-photoStella Arnold Robert, age 101, of Lincoln, died on Oct. 31, 2016. Stella was born in Phillips, Nebr.  in 1915 to Earl and Edna (Harvey) Arnold; the oldest of seven children.  Her father was a farmer and electrician.  She was the last of her High School graduation class from Phillips, Nebr.  Stella was wed to Henry Robert in Nov. 1937; Henry worked for American Stores Co., and Stella worked as a book binder for the University of Nebraska.

Stella is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce English; and brother, Bob Arnold.

She is survived by her daughters Reta Farnsworth and Ronda (Dean) Piersol; son, Richard (Anita) Robert; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thurs. Nov. 10, 2016 at Wyuka Funeral Home Chapel, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln. Cremation with no viewing. Family burial at a later date.  Condolences may be left at www.wyuka .com
