Cary R. Steele

Steele, CaryCary R. Steele age 47 of Lincoln passed away October 29, 2017.  He was born October 6, 1970 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William L. Steele and Kathryn (Wyner) Shanks.  Cary served the people of Lincoln for over 18 years as a 911 dispatcher and supervisor.  He served with the U.S. Army in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War.  Cary was a loving father, husband, son and brother.

Survivors include his wife, Laura and their children Grace and Donovan all of Lincoln.  Mother, Kathryn Shanks and husband Glenn of Lincoln.  Brother and sister-in-law, William L. and Zenaida Steele of Alexandria, Virginia.  Loving aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Steele.

 Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Celebrant Monsignor Liam M Barr.

 Burial of ashes with military rites will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

 Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to the children’s education fund in care Wells Fargo Bank.

  1. Cary my brother! I already miss you. I am so glad we were able to spend some time together last week at the APCO 911 Conference and I was able to tell you how much you mean to me!

  2. My heart breaks for you, Grace, Donovan and for all of Cary’s family and friends. He was a fun, generous, kind, faithful friend and dedicated, hard working individual passionate about both his work and his family. We will miss him deeply at the 911 Center for a long, long time. He inspired us all to be better people with his positivity, honesty, dedication and willingness to go above and beyond to help anyone who needed it. I feel privileged to have known Cary and his memories will be cherished.

  5. Cary, I know I haven’t seen you in ages, but I still thought of you often. You were one of the few bright spots at that old job we shared. I don’t know if I ever met a guy with a better heart and easy smile. May your spirit guide your children to look at the world the way you did and may they and your wife be blessed by the Lord now and forever.

  6. Where does one start? We worked at Ford Motor Credit together for years. You were my best bud. I will always remember being called “chief” when we were having fun. You were simply the best, always positive, always willing to help and always wanting the best for the next person. So many memories made that place and time bearable and all because of you. You will be missed. I cant believe you are gone. The world was made better because of you. Prayers for your family and friends during this time. Keep an eye on us down here. We need it. Love you man.     • Cary, I consider you a brother. We had a lot of good times in the “fun pit”. You made the 911 center a better place in so many ways. Laura, Grace, and Donovan will forever be a part of our 911 family. I will hold you and your family in my heart forever. You will missed and never forgotten.

  9. Cary my brother I will miss you greatly. You were the bright spot in many of my days. I pray for you and your family. I know that the Man-O’Steel will watch over the 911 center, as Cary watch’s over Laura, Grace and Donovan. May God hold you close and wash all you troubles away.

  10. Cary, although I haven’t seen you in years I have thought about you often. We had some great times at Ford Motor Credit. Your wife and kids will be in my thoughts and prayers. RIP my friend.
