Bruce E. McVey

McVey, Bruce 1Bruce E. McVey age 57 of Lincoln passed away October 15, 2017.  He was born June 28, 1960 in Omaha to Phillip and Marian (Crossen) McVey.

Survivors include his son Ian McVey and daughter Lana McVey both of Lincoln.  Grandson, DeVaughn Phillip Harris.  Granddaughter, MaLeah Kei’Mya McVey.  Sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Darrell Weiss of Alpharetta, Georgia, Carol and Tom Fricke of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Nephews, Derrick Weiss and Mitchell Weiss.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials to the family for a later designation.

Logan, MarilynMarilyn Jean (Yowell) Logan, died peacefully at home on October 12, 2017. She was born August 10, 1928 to Hoyt and Kathryn Yowell and grew up with brothers Hoyt Jr and Jerry in the East Campus neighborhood in Lincoln. Marilyn graduated from Northeast High in 1946 where she made lifelong friends. On October 15, 1949 she married her best friend’s brother, Franklin Logan.

Marilyn and Frank raised their family in Lincoln and Ralston. She was a loving wife and mother and made a welcoming home for family and friends, always including those who needed comfort and companionship. Marilyn loved her many cats and dogs, to read and garden, and especially enjoyed traveling, often riding on the back of Frank’s motorcycle.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Frank; children Frank Jr. (Vicki), and Kay (Randy Peters); grandchildren, Sarah Lyons (Justin), Dan Logan, Will Peters (Callie), and Tessa Peters; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane Parker (Dick); many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Inurnment at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln NE. Private family services. Memorials may be directed to the Capital Humane Society. 

Shirley M. Speer

October 14, 2017

Speer, ShirleyShirley M. Speer age 72 of Lincoln passed away October 13, 2017.  She was born May 9, 1945 in Hampton, Nebraska to John and Verla (Roehrs) Rathje.  Shirley graduated from York High School in 1963.  She received her associates degree from Lincoln School of Commerce.  She was in the marketing department for both Cushman and Licor in Lincoln.  Shirley was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter Christine Lien and her son Brett Speer both of Lincoln.  Grandchildren, Garrett Lien, Donovan Speer, Travis Lien and Clara Speer.  Brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Doris Rathje of York.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Warren Rathje.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 S. 33rd street, Lincoln.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17th at Wyuka Funeral Home from Noon until 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M.

Christina Bell Snyder

SnyderChristina B. Snyder, of Lincoln, passed away Oct. 9, 2017. She was born December 30, 1929 in Norton, Kansas to George and Louisa Freda (DeWester) Prall.

Survivors: husband, Richard, daughters, Iris (Chuck) Zimmerman, Linda, Debra and Joyce, four grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, sister, Frieda (Jim) Stroud. Preceded in death by daughter, Roberta, son Patrick, granddaughter, Tina.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln.
