Marilyn N. Chaffin

Marilyn obit photoMarilyn Nell Chaffin, age 86, of Lincoln, passed away at home after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday the 14th of June, 2017. She was born to Colin and Marguerite (Olcott) Anderson in Burwell on May 7th, 1931 and graduated from Burwell High School before moving to Lincoln and doing secretarial work for the Department of Roads and various law offices.  She later worked for Bryan Hospital for 37 years as a Patient Registrar.

In 1958 she married Gerald R. Chaffin, who predeceased her seven years ago. They are survived by their two sons, Scott, of Lincoln and Brian, of Minneapolis.  Marilyn is also survived by her brother Clayton (Margaret) Anderson of Burwell.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Homer Anderson of Long Beach, California, and Carolie (Jimmy) Larsen of Burwell.

Marilyn was devoted to her family and friends, passionate about keeping an immaculate home, and loved all animals, especially cats. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the All Feline Hospital spay and neuter clinic in Lincoln or to The Cat House, also in Lincoln.  A Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, from 12:00- 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Wyuka Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3600 “O” St., Lincoln.  Condolences www.wyuka.com

  1. I worked with Marilyn many years at Bryan. She was a devoted employee and respected by those she worked with and liked by all she came into contact with. She spoke often of Gerald and her sons, who she was so proud of. And of course her love, her cats!! She was really missed when she retired. When I think of Marilyn I think of the very kind soul she was always willing to help, always a positive person and never a harsh word. May God bless her and her family. She is an angel for sure.

  2. Marilyn and I worked together for about 10 years in admissions at Bryan Hospital. She was always calm, cool, and collected. I always thought of her as a pleasant, personable co-worker. She was very fond of and proud of her sons and husband. May she rest in peace!
