  4. I wish to offer my most sincere condolences to Larry’s family and close friends. I had the pleasure of working with him in the warehouse at LT&T. My favorite memory of him is still so clear. He and I had talked for a bit about a few Blues artists. I was just beginning what has become a long time love for the Blues. As our conversation ended, I turned and walked away from him towards the “wrapper” in the warehouse. I can still hear him calling after me, “I’d rather go blind than to see you walk away from me.” I chuckled and figured he was being his clever, mischievous, charming self. His vision wasn’t the best of the best, I was walking away and he just had that way about him. A few months later, I came across a recording of the amazing Etta James performing “I’d Rather Go Blind”. That little devil, I thought he’d come up with that line on the spot. Of course, he never told me otherwise. He had a good laugh when I gave him a hard time about it. That one moment in time has never failed to bring a smile to my face and the joy of knowing Larry to my heart. This heart will remember him always. I’ll never forget answering the warehouse line when they contacted Larry to tell him to get his butt in gear as his transplant was on the way. It was exciting, chaotic, joyful and spiritual all at once. So blessed to have known him. I am so very sorry for your loss. Words cannot express the feeling my tears convey. May God bless him on this journey. May He comfort you and keep you all in His tender, loving care.
