Mrs. Anne Eleanor Barton (Mook), 86, of Lincoln, passed on August 8. Anne was the only child of Eleanor Walsh Mook and David Mook born on July 30, 1935, in McCook, NE. Her childhood was spent in Kit Carson, CO (during the school year) where her mother taught and Winslow, AZ (during the summer) where her father worked as a lineman on the Santa Fe railroad.
After graduating from Kit Carson High School in 1956, Anne attended the Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO and CSU in Boulder, CO, earning her degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in Superior, AZ and later secured a position in the greater Phoenix area. She taught students in grades 3, 4, and 5 during her years as an educator.
Anne Mook married Charles Barton in Phoenix, AZ, in 1959. After that, the couple moved to the states of Tennessee and Arizona where she worked full time while her husband completed his medical degree. Shortly after finishing his residency, her husband was drafted into the armed services during the Vietnam conflict and served stateside for two years in the Air Force at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. The Barton family of five moved to Lincoln, NE, in 1972 where her husband started his medical practice.
After having her first child, Anne left teaching to become a stay-at-home mother. She was a devoted mother and
wife who found time for other interests like volunteering at the Sheldon Art Gallery and participating in clubs of her interest that were centered on history and gourmet cooking. She loved music, reading, picnics, laughing, conversations and travel. People who knew Anne characterized her as the sweetest and kindest person. Her smile and laughter could light up a room.
Anne is survived by her three children and grandchildren; son, Charles Barton, Chicago; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Roland Kyllmann, Santa Cruz, Bolivia; grandchildren Sebastian and Sophia Kyllmann; son, Jason Barton, Scottsdale, and grandson, Preston Barton. She considered her first cousin Jerry Preston, Benkleman, NE to be her brother.
Memorials can be made to the Lincoln Foundation. The burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21 at Wyuka Cementary. Rev. Clay Lein will lead the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on the same day, August 21, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, at 6001 A. St.

Anne and I were dear friends for many years in our Wedgewood Home Extension Club.
Those who have brought us joy, made us laugh, and show us love, have given us the lasting gifts of a beautiful life and blessed our memories forever.
