July 10, 1948 – April 15, 2023
Larry Dean Maresh was born July 10, 1948 to Edward and Mildred Maresh in Friend, NE. The family moved to Lincoln when Larry was 7. Larry graduated from Lincoln High in 1966. He attended UNL for 2 years majoring in engineering and was a member of the Triangle Fraternity.
When Larry realized he was going to be drafted, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Security Services Division. After spending a year in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged and returned to Lincoln. Upon returning, he attended Lincoln School of Commerce and graduated with his degree in accounting. His first job was at the Lincoln Airport Authority, and he retired from the Airport Authority as Deputy Director of Administration in 2007.
Larry married the love of his life Peggy in 1976 and they would have celebrated 47 years of marriage in July. Larry enjoyed many hobbies; golfing, cooking, playing softball, hunting and fishing and he was able to share those hobbies with his son Brent. Larry and Brent were able to share an antelope and elk hunting trip which Larry talked about for years. Larry’s fondest memories were the times spent at the family cabin at Lake McConaughy. Larry loved the sandhills and enjoyed the terrain and watching the wildlife. Larry was known for his cooking and grilling, and his family and friends will miss his french toast, lasagna, and his crème brulee.
Larry was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Capital City Kiwanis Club and American Legion Post #3. He was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.
Larry is survived by his wife Peggy, son Brent and daughter-in-law Jana and grandchildren Ardy and Harry. Larry always said Brent was the best thing he ever did with his life and Ardy and Harry were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-lawn June and Rick Issler, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Linda Nelson, 3 nephews and 1 niece and their families and his fur baby Sophie.

Peg – I so enjoyed my time at Lincoln School of Commerce with Larry. In later years, I would often run into Larry at the airport and he always took time to catch up. It is amazing how some friendships are so short but still last a lifetime. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers for all.
