Daniel Vculek

Dan “Shoe” Vculek was born January 7th, 1969 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Stu and Phyllis Vculek.  He started playing football in middle school and played for the Execs where Stu was one of his coaches.  He continued playing throughout high school and received many accolades for his performance. He was also a part of the Strength Club at Northeast High School where he graduated in 1987.  While at Northeast, he made a ton of friends, many of which he stayed in contact with up until his passing.  Shortly after high school, he had his two children – Logan in 1990 and Tymeri in 1995.  During that time he started his job with American Signature/Quebecor as an entry-level employee and eventually worked his way up to the Machine Operator position.  Quebecor closed that location in 2007 and forced everyone to move on.  Luckily, Dan had made so many great friends during that time, they were able to enjoy time together and sort of “soften the blow” of the shut-down.  One positive outcome to this is that Dan was able to take advantage of benefits provided to people who were laid off from their jobs and used that aid to begin courses at Southeast Community College where he eventually graduated with a degree in Accounting.

Dan loved the New Jersey Devils, New York Knicks, Baltimore Ravens, and the Lincoln Stars.  Over the past several years, he attended many concerts including some of his favorite bands such as Tool, Breaking Benjamin, Puscifer, Metallica, and The Foo Fighters.  Dan loved so many of his friends and family and they all knew he would do anything for them – this includes his dog, Maynard.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Stuart and Phyllis; brother Rodney; and sister Lynette.

Dan is survived by his children Logan and Tymeri Vculek; brother Jason (Kaylee) Vculek; nieces Sophie and Leah Vculek; nephew Brandon Vculek; aunt Pam Meranda; and Uncle David Vculek

What we do in life, echoes in eternity.”

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for further designation.
