Pearl E. Myers-Bence passed peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, one day before her 94^th birthday.  Pearl was born to Rufus and Josie Myers during the Depression on May 7, 1930, in rural Custer County, Nebraska. She was the youngest of seven children.  She attended a one-room country school until going to high school in town, graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1947.  After high school, she began working as a secretary which she did throughout her career at various companies, as well as the United Methodist District Offices and the University of Nebraska where she helped write the book, The First Century of the College of Agriculture.

She married Jackson J. Bence on August 13, 1950, and together they had four children.  After their divorce, Pearl moved to Lincoln where she enjoyed her work with Parents Without Partners and became an enthusiastic square dancer! She liked travel, music, and camping in her younger years, trading those for reading, playing computer games, and putting together jigsaw puzzles in her later years.

Pearl is survived by her children Kathie Uhrmacher (Arlyn), Brett Bence (Robin), Craig Bence (Susan) and Brenda Bence (Daniel Jackman). Her grandchildren are Korey Stading (David), Niki Figard (Travis), Tiffany Gilsdorf (Eric), Nathan Bence (Kayla), Jared Bence (Lauren), Teryn Bence.  Great grandchildren are Miles Stading, Enver Stading, Jackson Figard, Paul Figard, Sophia Gilsdorf, Lainey Gilsdorf, Rowan Bence, Matilda Bence, and Kate Bence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Helen Burch, Claris Myers, Lloyd Myers, Lela Embree, Mildred Sommer, and Wilma Smith.
