John David Herman passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Orchard Park Assisted Living. He was born November 30, 1956, to Bernard and Icye (Jameson) Herman in Lincoln, NE. He spent a few years of his childhood in Alaska and then the rest of his life residing in Lincoln. He worked cleaning the capitol building for Goodwill Companies. He made his choice to serve the Lord at a young age and stayed true to that choice until the end of his life. John would typically read a verse from the Bible during an interactive Bible service and then say, “I’d like to understand this better.” A simple desire to understand the word of God. A familiar prayer of John’s would include praying for the saints and servants, and that God would help him to make the right decisions, help the ones that were sick get well, and would keep those ministering overseas out of harm’s way.
In March, John moved to Orchard Park Assisted Living. He loved to walk the city of Lincoln and remembered when that area was still and orchard! In April, he was diagnosed with melanoma that had spread to his lymph nodes and other areas of his body. He spent the last 2 months of his life being well cared for by the nurses, CNA’s and med aides at the assisted living home. Traditions Hospice was a great help to John and he greatly appreciated all the care he received from them as well.
John is survived by one brother, Joe Herman and Joe’s wife and daughter.
A Graveside Service was held at 1PM, Monday, May 20, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery, Lincoln.
