Murray Cason Butler

Murray Cason Butler, age 82 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at his home in Lincoln.  He was born on June 29, 1929 in Henderson, Tennessee to Elzie Jacob and Delia Irene (Holloway) Butler.  Murray married Ruthie M. Ramer at Beaufort, South Carolina in 1950.  He served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years.  During his service years he was most proud that in 1965 he was on the maiden voyage around the world of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier the USS Enterprise.  Murray worked for Midland Medical Supply Company for 20 years.  He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, United Methodist Church, American Legion, and Ashland Country Club.  He enjoyed his wife, family, friends, golf, racquetball, bowling, square dancing, coin collecting, reading and traveling.

Murray is survived by his wife Ruthie of 61 years, daughters, Donna Butler of Connecticut; Debra and Bruce Samuelson of Missouri; Diana and Kris Bridges of Nebraska; sister, Nancy Davenport of Arizona; grandchildren, Nori and Sandy Lembree of Connecticut; Cason Ramos and Shelby Carlson of Connecticut; Amy and Chris Falkner of Kansas; Alan and Becky Samuelson of Kansas; Eric and Danyel Bridges of Arizona; Scott Bridges of Arizona; 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Hazel and Sue, an infant son and great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Mike McMurtry officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your dearly beloved husband,father and grandfather(Murray)during this most difficult time.May his entire family draw comfort from the promises made to us by our very loving creator Jehovah God.In John 5:28,29 & Rev 21:4,5 he promises to bring Murray back to life in the resurrection right here on earth in the very near future and end all sickness,suffering and death forever.

    You know how much I enjoyed chatting with Murray over the fence! I couldn’t have asked for better neighbors than you and Murray… I will always miss not seeing you across the fence, but very happy I still get to see you!
