Paul E. Stern age 86 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Lincoln. He was born on August 6, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Emil and Caroline (Scharman) Stern. He was a loving father, grandfather, pastor and missionary.
There will be no public visitation.
Services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. at Lincoln City Church, 5001 S. 1st Street, Lincoln.
Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Encouragers Unlimited.
Another one of God’s most beloved ambassadors has gone home to their Heavenly abode. My sympathies to the family as you cry and rejoice over the homecoming of your patriarch. I will never forget the many wonderful times at Bethesda as we watched the Holy Spirit come over Brother Paul as he sang out a song of love to our Lord and Savior. He will be missed…but we know he did plant many seeds that have been harvested.
I am saddened to hear of Bro Paul’s death…I was just thinking of him earlier this week. He was a wonderful person…a real soldier of Christ…I will always cherish the memories that I have of him and only hope that I can be just a measure of the Christian that he was. I know that he is now in a much better place. I look forward to joining him one day. I celebrate his life and death!

Dearest Sister Eleanor,
How my heart is heavy today as I recall the life and times of dear brother Paul as such a dedicated man of God and powerful influence in my life and so many others throughout his lifespan.
One delightful memory of mine to share with you is when Paul picked Daryl and I up at the Frankfurt train station on our return trip from Moscow with Pastor Moses Vegh. This was a planned visit with you and Paul to reconnect and spend ministry time together.
As we drove down the highway Paul broke out in a praise song we all knew. How precious that was knowing he was so free in Christ to breakout in spontaneous singing as if he were alone in the car. Of course, we joined in and that was the nature of our relationship with both of you.
During that Frankfurt visit Paul and I were waiting in the car for you and Daryl to return from a store. When a tall black man passed by Paul commented, “He’s an African.”
I replied, “How do you know that?”
He looked at me surprised. “You’re kidding.”
We loved connecting with Kenya through Jon and Molly and having them minister at our church while staying in our home. Hearing so many refreshing reports on the African revivals kept our hearts yearning. I especially loved the outdoor stadium story filled with tens of thousands of Africans. When Jon, as a guest visitor, led the packed out stadium in praise music sung in fluent Swahili, a roar erupted that cleared the heavens of eternal darkness.
So that how I remember Paul and the powerful legacy he left behind through his children and grandchildren. He was a man who loved God with all his heart and extended mercy to all who were privileged to know him. I know your heart is broken yet excited that your dear husband is now with our Lord rejoicing in His presence face to face.
Daryl and I are so thankful for all the love we felt from both of you. My husband has so many blessed memories of teaming together in the Ukraine and hearing Paul preach to a large delegation of Bishops on the subject of intimacy with God through worship.
We’ve dearly missed both of you over the years and regret not seeing you more often. But we were filled with awe of your ministry with an African orphanage as prophesied by Mom Beal decades ago. Thank you for your faithfulness and example of righteousness to all who consider you comrades in God’s glorious army.
Paul’s tremendous love of Christ lives on through his sons, daughter and spouses and countless grandchildren. That must have given him such great comfort in his final days on earth.
Please accept our deepest condolences and extend our sincerest sympathy to your entire family. We will never forget Paul. We rejoice remembering his wonderful life in Christ.

Heaven has welcomed a true servant of Christ. Paul was an encourager to me at a critical time when I was a Pastor in Indiana and He was Pastor at the Rock Church in Danville Il. He was a true “Father in the Faith” to many. I know he will me missed but we know he is not missing. He is now waiting is next assignment in the heavenly stables preparing his horse to return with the army of Christ. Blessing to all the family.

How saddened we were to hear of Brother Paul’s passing. He was a dearly loved man of God and a fine example of a minister, a husband, a father and a true missionary heart. Ruth and I have always held a special place in our hearts for you and Brother Paul. Actually, I feel there is a little bit of Paul Stern in me. He was a man who exuded the love of God and the joy of the Lord. We are all blessed to have enjoyed this wonderful gift in the life of Brother Paul. Dear sister Eleanor, Please be encouraged with the fact that Pastor Paul had finished his work on earth. I am a product of his missionary work in Nigeria. I am proud to be introduced to Christ by that Great man of God. Christ Gospel Church Mission is waxing stronger because Pastor Paul Stern gave his service to God and humanity. Stephen and I just found out of Pastor Paul’s passing. We thought of him as a father and we felt extremely privaliged to learn from him. We have not forgot a single thing he shared with us.I always felt Gods love when I was near him.Steve had a life change the day he met Paul.Our prayers and condolences are with you and your family.Praise,glory and honor be to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Claudia and I just learned of Pastor Paul’s passing this last weekend. Throughout life’s journey we all have created friendships and acquaintances, some stronger and with more meaning than others. Pastor Paul was one of those. We are truly moved by the passing of one who meant to so much to us and pray for the continued peace the Stern family must have for having such a wonderful patriarch.
