Duane Henry Vosika passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Lincoln. He was born on June 17, 1937 in Wilber, Nebraska. In his early years, following high school he joined the Air National Guard of Nebraska. Later he became a full time Air Guard member, he retired on June 17, 1997 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Duane was a friend of Bill W.
Duane is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn Rhode Vosika of Lincoln; brother, Eugene and Jane Vosika; children, Mark Vosika; Susan Kaspari; Nancy Vogler; Michael and Debby Kaspari; Thomas Kaspari; Daniel Kaspari; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Helen Vosika; and his brother, Ronald.
Cremation, no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Rev. Otto Schultz officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Nebraska National Guard.

Duane was a true friend and a proud Airman of the Nebraska Air National Guard. He was always the first one to arrive at work in the morning and one of the last to leave in the evening. Duane made sure that the lights were on, the coffee was hot, and in the winter the snow was plowed. He was a good friend to everyone who served and went out of his way to help others in need. We remember Duane donating his entire drill pay to the Lincoln Food Bank during the Christmas holidays to help others in need. Everyone who knew Duane will have a special place in their heart for him. Our condolences to Carol and the Vosika family.

Duane was full of smiles and happiness. A great sense of humor and an extremely caring heart. Up until his last days he was out and about in the community daily, lending his hand to help others. He always greeted people with a hug or handshake and a smile or laugh. I will always remember his playful orneriness, fun-loving personality and his willingness to give his time and energy to others so freely. Much love to Carolyn and the family.

As others have commented, Duane was a dear, sweet & giving person and we were so lucky to have known him. Tony & Jessi always considered him their “grandpa” and it was always a joy to see you both – whether at a meeting in earlier days or in your front yard as we would walk by recently. Duane was a class mate at Bellevue High School. We had great times growing up and he had many friends in our school. The times we got to visit at reunions will be remembered. He will be missed as we continue to trudge the road of happy destiny.

I enjoyed working with Duane for many years in the Air National Guard. He was fun-loving, a dedicated worker and a fine role model.
