James Edward Meeks, age 81 of Lincoln, died Friday, September 27, 2013. He was born February 29, 1932 in Fayette, Alabama to Phillip and Pearl (Taylor) Meeks. James was raised in Fayette, moved to Lincoln to join family and friends in the 1950’s and worked in the construction industry until his retirement. He was known to many in the community for his JM seasoning and barbeque ribs. James was a kind and gracious person and will be missed by his family and friends and those at Homestead Rehab Center.
James is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his nieces Marie and Erania and by his many other nieces, nephews and their families and by his former wife Rosetta and his step-son Wilbur.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Wyuka Funeral Home.
