Alberta Josephine (Keech) Cartagena, age 84 of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, Sept.18th, 2015. Born June 21, 1931 in Lincoln, NE to James Franklin and Edith Keech. Alberta retired from the US Soil Conservation Service as a cartographic supervisor. After retiring from the government, she continued her working career at Tabitha Health Care Services. Alberta had a zest for life with a love of travel. She was an artist, who loved to paint, quilt and write poetry. Alberta was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Cartagena and her siblings. She is survived by her children, Steven and Teresa; daughter-in-law Lori; grandchildren Trevor (Keri) and Kelsey. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Heart Association.

She will be greatly missed. I loved and admired her spirit and zest for life. But she is at peace and enjoying the loving arms of our heavenly father, as well as all our loved ones who have gone on before.
