Jack L. Gannon

?

Jack L. Gannon, 68, of Lincoln, passed away quietly on Oct. 28 at the Journey House after fighting a courageous battle against lung cancer. Born on July 27, 1947, to Rex and Marie Gannon.  Jack’s independent spirit, realistic outlook, and quick wit stayed with him until the last breath.  He graduated from Lincoln High School, hired out at the BNSF Railroad, and took a leave of absence to serve in the Navy on the U.S.S. Galveston. He was very proud of his 4 yrs of military service, and retirement from BNSF after 45 yrs.  Loved boating and always had a project going either at home or for the PLA neighborhood, but his true pride and love in life was his wife and his family.

Jack is survived by his wife of 43 yrs Pam, his sons Jeff Gannon, Kyle (Cara) Gannon, and his daughter Kristin (Mike) Woods, and granddaughters Kaysia and Tyrah Woods and Hailey Gannon, and brother & sister-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces and cousins.

Internment with military honors will be held at 9:00 A.M. at Wyuka on Saturday, Oct 31, 2015 with a Celebration of Life at Sheridan Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M. and a lunch to follow. Memorials are requested to Make-A-Wish, Sheridan Lutheran Church, Friendship House or projects for veterans such as Fisher House.

  5. We are truely saddened with Jack’s passing as I am sure his entire family and extended family are. We spent 3 year 5 months and two days together on the Galveston at the end of Vietnam. Although our lives took us down different paths we were always very close to each other.
Our prayers go out to Pam and the entire family. We know how much he will be missed.
