Marilyn Joyce Maxwell, 98 of Lincoln passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2021. Marilyn was born in Neligh, Nebraska, to Harold B. and Thelma D. (Recroft) Lawson, on February 14th, 1923. She married Robert L. Maxwell in Seattle, Washington, in October of 1942 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. Throughout her life, she worked at Goodyear, Elgin Watch Company, Russell Stover, and the State of Nebraska Print Shop where she retired in 1986.
She was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah, loved to swim and socialize at the YMCA, and attend Card Club with her girlfriends. Marilyn loved to have family and friends over for every holiday and event that she could. She would jump at any occasion to feed someone, even if they were full of the food she just gave you. Taking care of her family was her greatest joy. From looking after you while you were sick, providing unconditional love and support, to finding fun and new places to take her grandchildren.
She has been reunited with her husband Robert, her parents, her brothers Jack and Warren, her son Gary, her daughter-in-law Carol, and her granddaughters Brenda and Debbie.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Bob and Gail of Rowlett, TX, Wendy of Danbury, IA, and Randy and JoAn of Lincoln.
Grandchildren: Rick (Laura) , Stacey, Robin (Todd) , Rob, Heather, Jennifer (Richard) , Trevor, Jasmine (Mike) , Kyle, and Joshua (Liz).
Great Grandchildren: Cameron, Joel, Marissa, Wayne, Toni (Brian) , Brandi, Amber (Justin) , Amanda, Alexis (Jaimeson) , Megan, Anthony, Aubrey, Alana, Alicia, Alex, Riker, Tyrin, Jayce, Gage, Hannah, and Grace.
Great great grandchildren: Illiana, Inara, Lyrandar, Benjamin, Savannah-Rae, Karen, Michael, Lucy, Violet, Godric, Azura, Elena, Taylor, Jayden, Addison, Mia, Alexander, Zayden, and Alaya.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 22nd at 10:30 am at Wyuka Funeral Home located at 3600 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
Family will gather for the burial of ashes at Fairview Cemetery following the service.

I attended land and water aerobic classes with Marilyn at the Northeast YMCA for several years. Marilyn was an inspiration. She always had a smile on her face and never complained.
She loved cooking for her family for any occasion.
Marilyn was one of the first to welcome us to the neighborhood. We could tell how much she loved her family and how much they loved her. We miss those conversations we used to have with her, about her kids and grandkids. The neighborhood has lost another good friend.
We lost you two months ago today, and it still feels like it just happened… Although your service was one of the hardest things I have ever had to experience, it was beautiful and I know you would’ve loved it!
I do find comfort knowing you are at peace, but I miss you so much Grandma!
It’s been a little over 8 months. We’ve gone through our first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years without you, and things just aren’t the same. Isn’t time supposed to make this easier? I love you Grandma.
I miss you Grandma. I wish you were here. I just want to hear your voice and hug you. Life is so hard right now and I’ve never struggled this much. Halloween is coming up, I know how much you loved it. I’m hoping we can still carry on your tradition this year. Wherever you are, please check in on me. I need you.
We lost you almost 2 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. There has been so many times that I’ve caught myself thinking or saying, “I wish grandma was here”. Things have been continuously hard for me, but I keep trying to remember that I come from a line of strong women! I love you grandma.
