Bernice Eleanor Underdahl age 87 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Lincoln. She was born on November 13, 1923 in Preston, Minnesota to Alonzo and Eva (Inglebret) Nagle. Bernice graduated from Preston High School and Paul’s School of Beauty in Minneapolis. She was employed as a beautician at Donaldson’s in Minneapolis and in Austin, Minnesota. She operated her own beauty shop in Lyle, Minnesota. Bernice married Norman Russell Underdahl in 1948. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church where she was active in the women’s organization (WELCA). She chaired the wedding and funeral committees for many years. She was a member of Quester International and served as state president for 2 years, the UNL Faculty Women’s Club, UNL Ceres Club and PEO Chapter FB Lincoln. Bernice volunteered as a beautician at Tabitha Health Care for several years and for more than 25 years delivered Meals on Wheels and helped at the Lutheran Food Pantry.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Norman of Lincoln; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimbra Underdahl and Ricky Simmons of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Katherine Nagle of Austin, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Alberta and Emmet Soli.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1015 Lancaster Lane, Lincoln with Pastor Kim Osborn officiating.
Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation or Donor’s Choice.
Bernice was a warm and loving woman who welcomed me into her home many times for holiday meals. I will have wonderful memories of times spent with you.
Norman & Kim, We have good memories of Bernice. Thinking of you at this time of loss. You’re in our thoughts and prayers. Sorry we can’t make it down for the funeral.
I was saddened to read about Bernice. I have fond memories of the past. I’m sure all neighbors will miss your lovely wife/mother.
