Beverly Ann Wismer, age 87, passed away on April 1, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska, one day after her 87th birthday and 68th wedding anniversary to her husband, Dale Wismer.
Bev was born on March 31, 1931 to Henry and Maggie (Oosting) Vanderbeek in Panama, Nebraska.
After graduating from Panama High School, Bev moved to Lincoln where she worked at Elgin Watch and was the catcher for the Blackbirds softball team. Dale and Bev lived in Alvo where they farmed and raised their family. Later she worked as a cashier at Southeast Community College. Dale and Bev have been members of Hope Community Church for many years.
Bev’s house was always full of her family and she loved to host birthday and holiday celebrations and bake for everyone. Bev always had a smile and a cookie for you when visiting. She was an avid (and aggressive) card player, enjoyed gardening, reading and socializing after water aerobics at the Northeast YMCA.
Bev is survived by her husband Dale, her daughters Claudette Schmidt and Chris Bach (Kyle Marolf) and sons Doug (Julie) Wismer and Rod (Pam) Wismer, along with 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brother Richard Vanderbeek and son in law Mike Schmidt.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 11:00 at Hope Community Church, 4700 S. Folsom St. Lincoln, NE. Memorials to Hope Community Church.
My sincere condolences to the family of Beverly Ann Wismer.
I am the Great Uncle to Beverly’s Grandchildren, Maggie & Sam Bach.
