Brenda K. Mason

Brenda K. Mason

May 31, 1955 ~ October 28, 2021

Brenda Kay Mason was born to Lula Mae (Mason) White and Mingo Cook, Jr. on May 31, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Unexpectedly by her sons, Brenda was called to join the other angels to party with God on October 28, 2021.

During middle school in Shreveport, Brenda met the love of her life, Alvin Ford, and they eventually started a family. She attended high school at Booker T. Washington in Shreveport and would let you know by screaming “I’m from Booker T.!” She often reminisced about her days fishing, working at Alvin’s club, and the love she had for her birthplace. She spent her work years as a certified nursing assistant and retail manager. Brenda had an eye for fashion and was always the sharpest dressed woman in the room. Brenda had recently retired and spent the past year travelling.

Brenda had a beautiful smile and a laugh that lit up the room. Brenda’s main passions were God, her three sons, cooking, making people feel welcome, and bingo. Brenda faithfully attended church and found a church home in whichever state she lived. Brenda loved singing in the church choir. It was rare to have a conversation with Brenda where she didn’t discuss her faith in God and that she would remind you to “put it in God’s hands.”

Brenda showed her passion and love by cooking her son’s favorite meals and feeding everyone in the neighborhoods including Louisiana, Nebraska, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas and everywhere she visited. She was always looking for a kitchen to cook in to spread her love. Many of her sons’ friends grew up at her house and saw her as a mother figure. When Brenda visited someone’s home, she was known for taking a plate home with her. Brenda loved to dance and was the first on the dance floor. Anywhere Brenda was, a party was sure to happen.

Brenda was very vocal about knowing where she would go when God called her home and her family has peace knowing she is singing and dancing amongst the angels. Brenda will be buried, at her request, near her mother at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, NE.

Brenda was preceeded in death by her parents and brothers; Cartrey Green Sr., Stanley Cook, and Her Love Alvin Ford.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons; Konji Mason, Alton (Anita) Mason, and Al’Taurus “Tee” (Stacey) Mason; grandchildren, Maria Pinero, Joanna Taylor, Konji Mason Jr., Alton Mason Jr., Alston, Ania, Kaylee, Aniah, and Alijah “AJ” Mason; four great- grandsons; Rondell Blackshear, Jr., Gilfrey Gregory, Lenox Gregory, and Stephen Wyett; a beloved sister, Lois Williams; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 10:00am at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Jessie Myles officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5th, from 1-4 P.M. at the same location. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wyuka.com or on Wyuka’s Facebook Page.
