Daniel R. Kehler

Daniel R. Kehler age 62, of Lincoln went to his heavenly home on November 24, 2019. He was born in Lincoln on July 19, 1957 to Richard L. and Wilma Jean (Bender) Kehler. Dan was active in the Madonna Angel Dog Program with his dog, Max. He worked as an auto body repair technician.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Karen (Fontaine) Kehler of Lincoln. Sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Amy Poore of Lincoln, Bryce and Tammy Poore of Lincoln, Alex and Jessie Kehler of Waverly. His mom, Wilma Jean Kehler of Lincoln. Sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Garry Baker of Lincoln. Brother Ronald Kehler of Lincoln, sisters Connie Ramirez of Kansas and Sandy Ferguson of Missouri. 10 Grandchildren, 5 Great grandchildren. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Richard.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Christ Place Church, 1111 Old Cheney Rd. Lincoln.

Visitation Friday, November 29th, Noon until 8:00 P.M.  Family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to Madonna’ Angel Dog Program, the Capitol Humane Society or the family.

  1. Omg! I am so sorry, Alex, for your loss! I remember seeing him on the sidewalk with his dog off of 84th periodically and that was mostly when you were deployed. So young and too soon. My heart feels for you as this is never something one can plan for. Although my mom was much older, it still doesn’t make it any easier. God’s blessings to heal your heart and bring in happy and humorous memories!

  5. Dear Kehler Family,
    I am very sorry for Dan’s passing. My dog, ChaCha and I volunteered as an Angel Dog team with Dan and Max from January 2012 untilI we moved out of state in 2013. Dan and Max were our role models and they brought smiles on patients’ and their family members’ faces countless times. Dan was very good at teaching Max unique tricks and children at pediatric wing loved all of them.
    It was such a pleasure to volunteer with Dan and Max.
    Rest in peace, Dan. You will be missed.
