Diana Margaret Kinney was born on February 21, 1930 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The only child of Norris and Ella Fielding, her earliest memory was of gathering fresh chicken eggs at her grandparents’ house in Lincoln, Nebraska. Diana fondly remembered the sewing skills taught to her by her mother. Diana excelled at music in school, playing the piano and organ as well as singing in the choir. Her favorite types of music were Big Band Swing and Southern Gospel. She met her husband, John Randolph Kinney, on a blind date with her best friend Donna, in Omaha, Nebraska, and was married by her father-in-law, Reverend Charles B. Kinney. Her husband John worked for General Motors in Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and California. Diana passed away on January 25, 2012 in Roseville, California, where she and her son attended Pleasant Grove Community Church.
Diana is survived by three children, Dana Rex Kinney (retired state employee) of Roseville, California; Debra Lee Clark (federal court reporter) of Hayden, Idaho; and Karla Marie Myers (musician, teacher) of Kailua, Hawaii;
and Karla’s three children Erik, Russ, and Kari Lundgren.
After her children left home, Diana returned to school and became a medical office manager for several neurology doctors from the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, where she was always valued by the doctors and their patients. She would most like to be remembered as the good mother that her loving children felt she was.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Wyuka Cemetery with Pastor Mike McMurtry officiating.
Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.
