Don R. Muthersbaugh

October 4, 1929 ~ October 23, 2021

Don Robert Muthersbaugh, 92, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, after suffering a stroke and related conditions.

A memorial service will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. Private burial at Valparaiso Cemetery is planned for the family with Military Honors provided by The United States Air Force. Don was born to Robert G. and Edith C. (Anderson) Muthersbaugh in Lincoln, NE. As a child, Don lived in many communities surrounding Lincoln including Nebraska City and Valparaiso, NE. After graduating from Valparaiso High School, Don worked for the UP Railroad on a section crew, then joined the Air Force during the Korean War where he fueled planes and remained state side to train other soldiers. He married Darlene Faye Krafka on January 20, 1956, and they had three children: Mickey, Tamara, and Alan.

He was briefly a fireman with the Lincoln Fire and Rescue, then went on to spend 25 years with American Stores as a ham de-boner until the plant was closed. From there, Don worked as a building superintendent at Rousseau Elementary, Norwood Park, and Prescott schools. Don retired from LPS but continued to work part-time at UNL to help service university-owned vehicles. He especially enjoyed meeting the UNL coaches and various administrators. Don loved his cars/trucks and being cleaned up. He had a haircut and shave before he passed. Don was a dog person and loved his pets: Tuffy, Sam, Lady, Cindy, Mac, and Heidi.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Annette Wilson.

Don is survived by his wife Darlene of 65 years; his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Judy (Muggy) Muthersbaugh of Riverside, CA; daughter and son-in-law Tamara (Scott) Shaner; sons and daughters-in law Mickey (Carol) Muthersbaugh, Alan (Kelly) Muthersbaugh; grandchildren Nicholas Muthersbaugh, Samantha Muthersbaugh, Amanda (Dalton) Kapke, Brad (Emma) Shaner, Matt (MaKayla) Muthersbaugh and AJ Muthersbaugh as well as great-granddaughter Cora Kapke.
