Your mom was an admirable woman. I remember even as a little kid thinking that she could do SO much and knew so much, and I always enjoyed listening to her. Mom and Dad (Alan and Dorothy Pokorny) always thought so much of her, too. She was such a blessing to them as they started their family at the dairy farm. Such a kind, caring, and giving heart. My prayers to all of you through these difficult days. May you feel God’s comfort holding you close. I know she will always be around through all of her family (who she humbly bragged about!). Lori

Warm and welcoming from the very first, we shared 38 years of friendship and all the stuff of our lives, the good, the bad and the ugly. No subject was ever off limits. I loved how genuine and authentic she was, how she lived her values and kept going, no matter what. She was as kind and as generous as she could be, and as tough as she needed to be. I loved how she’d laugh at a good joke with her whole self. I loved her common sense, her work ethic, her curiosity about the world and her love for people, especially her family. She could always find joy, whether it was a good book, music, nature, animals, children, a cup of hot tea or a field of sunflowers. She was a true and loyal friend always, and I will be forever grateful that I was so very lucky to know her. It doesn’t seem right that I can’t pick up the phone and call her anymore. Our phone conversations were always such bright spots in my life, and sometimes we’d talk for 3 hours! She leaves a wonderful legacy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oh, how she will be missed. I loved, admired and respected her so much, and I will keep her in my heart always … always.

I’m working on music to make a lovely service for you, Kelly Meyer will be singing. Bonnie and I will be doing your flowers. When I came back into town from Pawnee City today, I picked up the phone to call and let you know I was back to town like I always did. Oh, how hard it is to remember that you are no longer there.

I worked with Dorothy at AC Nielsens on Lincoln, in the last 80’s. She was always a delight to work with. She will be greatly missed.
