Gertrude “Gertie” Felton, born January 10, 1964, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, surrounded by those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet and Paul Felton, and her uncle, Bill Wallman. She is lovingly remembered by her aunt and uncle, Clarabelle and Roland Roberts, along with her extended family and countless friends.
For the past ten and a half years, Gertie lived as a cherished member of our family, bringing warmth, love, and joy into our lives. She shared a close and special bond with Sebastian, spending countless hours together watching cartoons, visiting the park, and cheering at his baseball games. To Sebastian, Gertie wasn’t just a friend; she was like a fifth sister, deeply loved and an integral part of our family.
Gertie’s adventurous spirit shone brightly as she traveled extensively with us, creating unforgettable memories in Florida, Arizona, Texas, Chicago, Kansas City, Branson, Wisconsin Dells, and even on the unique Chicago-to-Oklahoma route. Wherever she went, Gertie’s genuine kindness and big hugs left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Over the years, Gertie developed a wide circle of friends through her involvement in vocational programs at ILC. Her love for being outdoors, her radiant smile, and her heartfelt connections made her unforgettable to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Gertie will forever be remembered for her boundless kindness, her nurturing spirit, and her ability to bring people together with love and laughter.
