H. Irene Shadley age 90 of Lincoln, Nebraska went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her home in Lincoln. She was the beloved mother of Karen Oldenburg and Donna Merk both of Lincoln. Irene was born in Lincoln to Joseph and Essie (Watson) Phillips on January 1, 1921. She attended Jackson High School in Uni Place. Irene spend most of her adult life, caring and working with her children. She was a member of the Capital City Christian Church.
Irene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Karen and Elwin Oldenburg and Donna and Larry Merk all of Lincoln; step-children, Phyllis Lopez of Hawaii and Earl Shadley, Jr. of the Phillipines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Shadley Sr., parents, brothers, Arthur, Albert and Richard Phillips, sisters, Ruth Talskey and Dorothy White.
There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bill Thornton officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
