The Speidell cousins will never forget playing with Houghton Jr at the Furr house on Sunday’s. Being several years younger than the girls, he was their “baby” that they loved to dress/change and drag all over.

“Houtie” was a great classmate. During Senior Year, he joined the SE Debate program as a forensic competitor (interpretive drama as I recall) and traveled with us (I was a debator) to faraway places like Independence, KS and Neosho, MO, for a couple of the larger tournaments. He was gregarious, gentle, and a lot of fun. May he rest in peace. (And we share the birthday).

Houghtie was a much-liked LSE 1960 graduate, a respected Sigma Chi and Marine Corps alum — and a superb leader on the University Club board. As Janet says, he leaves us far too soon!
