Janis Ann Schleiger, 90, of Lincoln, passed away July 13, 2023. Born August 24, 1932 in Syracuse, NE to William and Lena (Homfeld) Hauschild.  She married Kenneth D. Schleiger in Lincoln, NE on November 16, 1951.  Janis worked for the USDA FGIS grain inspection and GSA motor pool in Ogden, UT. After they moved to Seward, NE she work for American Family Insurance.  During retirement, Ken and her traveled in their fifth-wheel trailer to all the lower 48 states.  She was active in her church helping wherever she could, making quilts, traveling, baking and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Mark Schleiger, Ken (Rose) Schleiger, Jr., Craig Schleiger and LeAnn (Richard) Robinson; grandchildren, Ken Schleiger III, Mathew Schleiger, Kaylin Robinson, Jaylene Robinson and several nieces and nephews.  Janis is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, sister/brother in law; Elva and Pete Peterson, brothers/sister-in-laws Maynard and Jane Hauschild, Vernon and Norma Hauschild, William and Marilyn/Ardyce Hauschild, sister-in-law and husband Jackie and Clarence Thomas and nephew Todd Peterson.

Celebration of Janis’s Life: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023, at American Lutheran Church, 4200 Vine St., Lincoln. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Lutheran Church or Capital Humane Society.
