John V. Kitrell Jr. age 63 of Elmwood, accepted his wings on June 9, 2016, losing his battle to cancer. He was born April 6, 1953 in Lincoln to John Sr. and Carrie (Lakey) Kitrell.
He is survived by his wife Diane, sons and daughters-in-law: Nathan and Courtney, Shawn and Connie, Chad and Melissa. Daughters Ashley, Andrea and Brandy. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Charles Sykes. John is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Nicole.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Wyuka Cemetery. John’s family will host a celebration of life gathering at the Red Cedar Lounge in Elmwood at 5:00 P.M. on June 29th, all are welcome to come share memories of John.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Sorry for your loss. He’s a great man. I remember taking vacations with my parents to see my aunt Carrie and uncle Jack. I remember my cousin John taking me on my first motorcycle ride. I have the scar from it. His muffler burnt my leg as I was getting off. I remember taking his kids to the park across the street from my aunt and uncle house. That’s just a couple of memories I have of my cousin. He’s going to be greatly missed. He touched everyone’s life he came into contact with. This world needs more people like my cousin. Love you cuz. Your going to be greatly missed. Rip.
