Joree C. “Joe” Bennett, age 74, of Lincoln, passed from this life to eternity on March 21, 2012.  He was born on June 13, 1937 in Orleans, Nebraska to Carl and Myrtle (Blum) Bennett.  Joe started as a student Pastor serving the Evangelical United Brethren Church until 1968 when the EUB merged with the United Methodist Church.  He served in the UMC until his retirement from the ministry in 1983 after serving 6 different parishes throughout Nebraska and one in Illinois.  After retirement from the ministry he partnered with his son Brian to build homes for Bennett Built Homes, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris (Cook) Bennett of Lincoln; Daughter and Son-in-law: Christy and Bruce Wacker of Overland Park, Kansas; Son and Daughter-in-law: Brian and Judy Bennett of Lincoln; Granddaughter: Sarah Wacker; Sister: Carla Hatch of Minden, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Reta Artz and Dora Lee Larsen; one niece.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be left for the People’s City Mission.
