Kimberly “Kim” Sue Gardner

Kimberly “Kim” Sue (Wohlers) Gardner passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, in her home surrounded by loved ones. Kim was born to Carol (Rogers) Brundle and Lonnie Wohlers in Lincoln Nebraska on February 20, 1970. Kim was the beloved sister of Robert Young, Richard Wohlers, and Damion Brundle.

Kim attended Lincoln High School (class of 1988) and went on to Southeast Community College to obtain her associate’s degree in finance. In middle school, Kim met Aaron Gardner, and the two would go on to give birth to their eldest child, Austin Gardner, and then marry in August of 1991. Kim and Aaron had three more children together, Alexis “Lexi” Gardner, Andrea (Gardner) Egger, and Jessica Gardner. In 2007, Kim was given her favorite name of all, “Gigi”. Ryland Gardner-Parker was born to Austin Gardner and Kim was overjoyed and took her new role on with joy beyond measure. Anyone who spent any amount of time with Kim knew her children, and grandson were her whole world as she embodied selfless, devoted, unconditional love for her children, and extended that love to any and everyone she met.

Kim was the life of the party and knew no strangers because she welcomed anyone she met into her life.  Her smile lit up every room she walked into and her joy was infectious. Kim’s loyalty was second to none, her children often joked that she had more “best friends” than they all had friends combined. Even in the end, her home was a revolving door of family and friends from childhood, high school, and present. Her children were so grateful for those who came by, brought meals, and shared stories, laughs, and tears, a testament to the love she endlessly gave and received.

Kim is survived by her children Austin (Krystina) Gardner, Lexi (Ben) Gardner, Andrea (Garrett) Egger, and Jessica Gardner, grandson, Ryland Gardner-Parker, brothers, Robert (Kristin) Young, Richard (Kim) Wohlers, and Damion Brundle, and, mother, Carol (Rogers) Brundle, step-father Rod Brundle. Kim is preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Wohlers.

A special thank you to the Horisun Hospice Team, and Becky and Summer with, “Service with a Caring Heart” for helping care for Kim in her final days on earth.

A viewing for the public will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2nd from 5:00-8:00 PM. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, July 3rd at 10:00 AM with a lunch to follow at Calvary Community Church (4400 N 1st St, Lincoln, NE 68521).In typical Kim fashion she requested friends and families wear purple if they have it to the service. Memorials can be made to the Gardner family (Lexi) for Ryland’s college fund.
