Kristina Hernandez Avila age 41 passed away Wednesday July 30 2014 at 10.08 am at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln NE due to diabetic complications.
Kristina was born April 14th 1973 in Scottsbluff NE. She was welcomed into this world by Philippe Hernandez and Victoria Alvarado Hernandez. She attended most of her school years in Mitchell NE and graduated from Alliance NE. She went on to get her Associates Degree in business from Kaplan University. She worked at Nelnet a loan servicing co for 14 yrs and went on to work for the Department of Human Services as a Case Aide for the last five years.
She leaves behind her husband Jose Avila, son David Hernandez, and daughter Victoria Avila. She also leaves her twin sister Katrina Hernandez Fitzwater who is married to Lee Fitzwater and 4 nephew’s Derek, Keith, Robert, and Christopher. Her brother Phil Hernandez and wife Joyce Urdiales Hernandez with niece Alyssa Hernandez, and nephew Stephen Hernandez. She also leaves her brother John Hernandez and wife Melissa Ortega Hernandez. God rest her soul. May she rest in peace. She will be missed tremendously and always loved and remembered.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Wed Aug 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3128 S St, Lincoln with Pastor Mike Morin officiating; Visitation one hour prior at the church. Wake and Rosary: 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tues Aug 5, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln with Pastor Thomas Walsh officiating Rosary at 7 pm. Interment: Wed Aug 6, following church service, at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln. Memorials to the family or Heartland Chapter Diabetes Foundation, 2120 S. 56th St, Ste 206, Lincoln, NE 68506.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Kristina. I often saw her in the skywalk in downtown Lincoln and remembered her from High School. My deepest sympathies to her family, I will miss seeing her smile.
