LeRoy (Jerry) Covert was born January 15, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska and passed away on July 16, 2019 while residing at The Ambassador in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Jerry served in both the Army and the Navy and fought in WWII and in Korea. He was an automobile mechanic for most of his adult life. He was an avid golfer and a friend to everyone who knew him.
Jerry is survived by Margaret Covert; daughter, Sheryl Walker; son, Robert Covert; daughter, Cynthia Covert; son, James Covert; daughter Suzanne Hart; 5 of his original 7 children (Tom and Leroy Covert preceded him in death).
He had 10 grand children and 15 great grand children, and is survived by his brother Dan Covert.
He is known for teaching his children and grand children how to work on their cars and he taught us how to fish with just a bamboo pole.
Every Sunday he would make the 30 minute drive from Unadilla up to Lincoln to check in and see how everyone was doing. He always did the best he could with what he had and believed in not giving up no matter what.
We will miss you dad!
