I always had great respect for Dr. Fleming and my associations with him through my position in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, IANR. He would come to my office frequently as he would diligently be preparing nominations of faculty for various awards. Dick was always kind, considerate, and respectful of others. He was a true gentleman and friend that I am honored to have known and worked with. I know it was an honor for him to serve the University of Nebraska, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, IANR, and the state of Nebraska. Sending my sincerest sympathy for your loss. May you find peace in wonderful memories and God’s everlasting love.

During my years with UNL, I had the pleasure of working with Dick frequently–always a positive, “can do” professional, a valued communicator, organizer and strong professional colleague and friend.

I worked for your Dad when I was a student at UNL in the late 60s. He was my first boss; and throughout my professional career, he remained one of the best bosses I ever had. He was a real gentleman, and I still remember him fondly.
