Salvador (Sal) Damian, “Chava”, 86, passed away December 2, 2021, at a care facility in Ashland, NE. His celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Wyuka Funeral Home & Cemetery in Lincoln (rosary at 1:00 with the celebration of life immediately following).
Salvador (Sal) was born on July 15, 1935 in Lincoln, NE to Jesus Damian and Maria (Arenas) Damian. He grew up in Lincoln and attended Whittier Junior High and Lincoln High School. Sal found a career at Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked for over 40 years before his retirement in 1997. In 1958, he met the love of his life, Patricia Hergenrader. They were married in 1960. They love to travel, visit friends, and camp. They spend their retirement years traveling in their RV with their two dogs, and staying at their winter home in Harlingen, TX. Sal loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid runner, and at age 52 ran the Boston Marathon. In his later years he enjoyed the simple things (e.g., running errands, drinks with friends, gardening, visiting with neighbors). Sal loved friends, family, his dogs and most of all his wife, Pat. He and his contagious laughter will be greatly missed.
Sal is survived by his sister Ardella (Damian) Delgado, and brothers Rulo and wife Wilma Damian, Henry Damian, and Louis Damian, all of Lincoln, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sal is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, parents, and numerous family members.
Chava, one of the good guys… Great memories… Pat and Chava, couldn’t say one without the other. “Another Lincoln High Job Well Done.”
I had the Pleasure of working with Sal and all the other Damian family members when I worked at The Havelock Shops. He will be missed by ALL that knew him.
