Sidnee D. Hafits, age 73 of Topeka, Kansas passed away July 7, 2022.  She was born December 24, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Jack E. and Norma L. (Peden) Searles.  She was raised in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967.  Sidnee enjoyed reading, cooking and learning new things.  She was hopeful and very thankful for all of the experiences in life she had.  Sidnee spent her adult life working at various state agencies in Wayne, Fremont and Lincoln as an administrative assistant.

She and Marvin E. Hafits met while they were both living in Fremont, Nebraska.  They were married in July 1975 and had a very happy life together for 17 years before Marvin died from complications due to Parkinson’s disease in December 1992.  Sidnee was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic in January 1962 just one month after her 13th birthday.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law Terri J. and Mark Raffety of Omaha; half brother Bruce A. Isherwood of Glendale, Arizona; 3 stepchildren, 3 step gransons, 4 great step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard L. Parrack, long time friend and companion.

Cremation with a graveside service at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  Family and friends will meet at the Gate 2 at Lincoln Memorial Park.
