It is sad to see one pass on so young. Remembering the Werger’s from back-in-the-day at Eagle School – our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God’s blessings to Steve’s family in the days ahead.

The Mann family lived at 1809 S. 53rd on your south side. I played often with Steve as a next door neighbor. Steve tolerated me even tho I was only 1 year younger. Pete and My father jack lived close on Sumner street when they were kids. And when my Father, Jack and Steve’s Dad Pete went off to buy their first homes (which were empty lots)they pulled up in front of each lot and my Dad said they looked at each other and said “I just bought this lot?” and Pete said “we just bought this lot?”
And the family relation ships were started again. I was just thinking of Steve a week ago and then today I see the sad news in the Obits. Wish we could have reminisced before now. Peace be with you my friend, Sincerely, Tom Mann

He was my journeyman plumber at Al’s plumbing. I will never forget the time I spent with Steve, he taught me so more than plumbing as a young man. Even though I left the plumbing field whenever I saw Steve it was like we were still working together. I will won’t forget you my friend!

My goodness, I am so saddened to read about Steve’s passing. My memories of Steve are so very long ago, through the eyes of a child and through the eyes of Joanie’s childhood best friend, therefore, another pesky little girl in Steve’s life! It appears from what I’ve read that he grew into a man who loved pesky little girls, and boys, and was a wonderful father and friend to many. I’ll never forget him chasing me with his “eye” and hooking up the sled to the back of the horse to take Joanie and me for a ride around the farm. (I think he actually liked us sometimes). My childhood memories cannot be separated from the Werger family.

I just wanted to express my condolences and for you all to know I am thinking of your family and the losses you have endured. God be with you. Mary Bender Colacurci
