  4. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bill’s family. I haven’t seen Bill lately but for a few years our paths crossed when Erin and my daughter, Maddy, played sports. One winter Bill and I coached them in basketball and he was so good with those little girls. I will always remember hearing Bill shout words of encouragement to Erin at softball games and especially how he was so positive and supportive of my daughter and the rest of the girls. He will be so missed.

  7. #55 lead by example! He was a true underdog (playing 8-man FB ball at Polk-Hordville) that became a Super-hero (Starting Center for Nebraska Cornhuskers), but most impressive about Bill was his ability to make others feel good about themselves! I know your in good hands Bill with the Lord!

Thanks for all the lessons of life my friend!

  8. I have had the pleasure of working with Bill for the past eight years. His help and dedication to the end customer helped us build the business to record levels. It was however not all about work that I admired about Bill. He often spoke of his family and the accomplishments of the “kids”. And when I traveled to Lincoln, he took time to meet me in the evening to introduce me to his bride, Colleen. Bill will be missed by many. His positive approach to family, business and life is an example for all.

  9. My thoughts & prayers go out to Bill’s family. I work for Case New Holland and Bill was the account manager at Goodyear/Veyance so I worked closely with him. He not only was someone I worked with but through the years we had become good friends. I always looked forward to him visiting us and I will miss him. I’m sure I am speaking for everyone at Case New Holland as his knowledge of the business and his wonderful demeaner is not always found in everyone.

  12. To Bill’s Family,

My heart fell when I heard about the accident. I only knew Bill for about 4 months but what an impression he made with me. I was heavily involved with him on a work project for Veyance and Titan Machinery and Bill is the single reason the whole project was a success.
I would echo others who have said he had a great work ethic.

During the time we were together we had an opportunity to share about each others lives. I know from those conversations that he loved his entire family beyond belief.

Please know that we are thinking of Bill and praying for all of you.

Respectfully, Mike and Robyn McCann, Kearney

  13. I got to know Bill through the Wiegert’s. Even though I am older than all these guys, I remember Billy taking me under his wing on our Arizona trip and making me feel like one of the guys. Every since he would greet me with a big old bear hug, a kiss on the cheek, that beautiful smile and some crappy beer like PBR. Tailgating just won’t be the same with out Billy. I hope he can take my son Kyle under his wing up in Heaven, just like he did for me.
We will have a toast to both every gameday as they watch from the big skybox in the sky.
    God bless his family.
    Lots of Love,
    Geno

  14. Bill set a new high bar when it comes to representing a large corporation. I will continue to use the memory of his business relationship with our company as a standard for all others. You could feel his empathy all through out any deal our family owned small business needed to make. “How can I help” were the words we heard first from Bill.

  15. I worked with Bill at Goodyear/Veyance from our St. Marys office. His professionalism, knowledge, and sheer passion for the rubber track business and his customers was and is unmatched. I am so saddened by the loss of a dear co-worker, and so much more for his family. I can’t imagine losing such a force and powerful personality. My memory I will always remember was that for Bill it was never about “me” but rather always about his customers. He was so excited about rubber tracks, new development, new projects, that his enthusiasm is unmatched! He loved his Trackkman vest and began many notes with “I Love Rubber Tracks”. I have worked many trade shows with him and his love of his girls, his wife, Colleen and his wonderful family was very evident. My sympathies to his family and friends.

  16. Tara, I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers as you go through this difficult time. My brother died in a car accident when he was 25 and I was 24, so I know what it is like to be thrown into a terrible reality in the blink of an eye. After coaching you, I know that you are tough, but this is a whole new ball game. Please reach out for help when you need it so you can stay on a healthy path, it would be easy to go along an unhealthy path with all that you will be going through. I’m on my way to my new job in California, but I’m only a phone call away if you need to talk (Hedlunds have my number) Paxton and I are thinking of you and sending you strength.

  20. I only had the pleasure of working with Bill for a year and a half at Veyance. His knowledge of the business, and his concern for the customers was beyond compare, but what impressed me the most was his devotion to his wife and children. I know there were times he would travel late at night to get back to help one of the kids with a sporting event or other activity, and that no matter how backed up he got in work, the family always came first. Bill was a great guy, and I feel fortunate that I did know him, even for a short time.

  24. Colleen, All of us here at the St. Marys plant are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you all. I will always remember Bill as this big bear of a guy who taught me so much about rubber track. He invited me once to play cards with the CNH folks when they were here at the plant. ( Forgot to tell me I was to let them win ) Even though I knew who it was when the phone rang he would always say ” Sandy, this is Bill “. I will miss hearing his voice on the other end of the line. We worked together closely on the dealer claim resolutions. Know he is with God and watching over you all.

  26. Sincerest condolences – my thoughts and prayers are with Bill’s family and close friends during this most difficult time. Ziegy was a great team mate and determined leader on the field – and a true role model for me not only as a Husker, but also in the college of engineering, professionally @ Goodyear, and otherwise. And although it’s been a handful of years since we last met, I know he was the same man of character whether at that moment, 20 years ago, or last week. Godspeed Bill – you will be missed.

  27. My thoughs and prayers are with Bill’s family – both his personnel family and the Goodyear/Veyance family. I first met Bill when he came on board as the representative to CNH. We had many serious and fun visits working with the mower conditioner roll projects. He was a great man of honesty and integrety in everything he did.

  28. Lazertag and video games for the kids birthday party, madness all around… throughout the afternoon Bill was mostly invisible in the way a caring father is: standing tall handing out tokens and keeping everyone in line without having to say much if rarely anything at all. But what I remember most from that day is him and Colleen over in the corner playing basketball Pop-A-Shot- the biggest, funniest kids in the whole room- and being fiercely competitive in their love.

Im deeply saddened by his passing, but thankful Bill handed me a lesson or two without even trying in our limited engagements. To the family. I am truly saddened of your loss, but hope you take solace in knowing he certainly effected many, many more in a similar manner.

  31. My sincerest and deepest condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I had the privilidge of working with Bill on many engineering projects at CNH and counted him a friend. Many good memories of going to the Shady Maple resturant with Bill here in Lancaster. He never came to Lancaster county without making time to stop there! My thoughts and prayers are with you. 1 Thess 4:13-18.

  32. While retired now, I worked closely with Bill for several years at Goodyear/Veyance. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bill’s entire family in this difficult time. Bill was truly an inspirational guy that brought the leadership skills honed on the Cornhusker football field to the workplace and to all his daily activities. From the time I spent with Bill it was clear that his first love was for his family even though he often voiced his favorite business phrase “I love Rubber Tracks”. It was also evident that Bill loved life in general and never knew a stranger. Bill’s ability to make friends with everyone was indeed a rare gift. Bill will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

  34. A good friend is hard to find and even harder to lose.
The Big Guy from Nebraska was a very special find and a hard, hard loss.
Billie, may the rains be forever timely, your cards be forever hot and the Jameson’s forever plentiful.
The world will be a duller place without your light to show us the way it should be done.
    Peace to you and yours.

His high energy, dedication and fun spirit made him a great guy to be around. I knew him as a completely dedicated family man who cherished his children. My deepest sympathies and prayers to his family and dear friends. He will be sorely missed.

  36. I never knew Bill, nor anyone related…I was simply looking for a friend’s funeral information and came across this posting.

I had a dear friend die in a similar manner and therefore I know how hard it is when the good die young.

    Prayers to all…
